  1. On this plan I have a front door with 2 sidelights and 1 transom over the entire (window, door, window unit). What I'm running into is an error dbx that states, "An opening with a non-flat top cannot be mulled underneath another opening." I have my door and both sidelights set at 80" high and when I go to mull the three that part works just fine. The issue comes in when I try to mull the 4th item (transom above) that the error pops up. I have no idea why. included the plan and a pic. Thanks in advance- J TVB-ORR.plan
  2. Doah....Exactly! Yes, they were set to "from floor" instead of "absolute". Thank you very much. J
  3. Ok, so I've got my design to a point where I want to start playing with the elevation grade. The property has serious slope on the right / rear / left sides of the layout (pretty much the house is being placed on a buildable peninsula on the property, the rest is ravine and unbuildable.) I placed an elevation spline to the rear and set it to 20' below main grade for a starting point. Funny thing happens, my architectural blocks (False beam / brackets under eaves and on wood trusses) move with the terrain. Yikes! Not what I want and I don't know how to separate them to be independent from one another. Can't find the answer in the user guide, tried locking the blocks etc. Any suggestions? 4. I agree Solver. Next time I will build it with a separate foundation. Thank you- j
  5. Ok. closed the plan down again and now it seems the only issue is the right side foundation wall is the only one acting up. Cool. almost there...
  6. The corner issue is solved NICE! THANK YOU!!! but now the three concrete foundation walls do not show in sections or elevations but do show in floor plan. What am I missing here? New plan attached... TVB_OFFICE.plan
  7. Yes, I saw that too but didn't know what to do with it. Great, thank you solver!
  8. Hey All - I've got this two story walk-out basement plan I am working on. On the front two corners of both levels where the covered porches / entry hit the main wall corners I am getting some wonky issues that will not allow them to come together cleanly. You will see once you click on the corner walls, (REVISION CLOUDS) multiple 1 and 2' long walls and room definitions (porch/entry) that shouldn't highlight into the interior rooms. I've tried deleting all the little sections of wall and pulling from the longest walls but they always revert back to wall sections. I don't know if there is a foundation issue or a wall issue or a room perimeter issue. The elevations also show a 4" material change that is also unchangeable. By not connecting the room perimeter on the right side upper level the decking for the covered porch does not form up to the wall. I intentionally left this so you can form finish the move and see what happens. I know it's user error but I've gone down this rabbit hole so far I don't know my way back. Ha. If you have some idea on how to fix it or if it's a quick fix then fix it but please let me know how you did it so I can learn. Either way any help would be great. I have included the plan.... Thank you in advance! Justin TVB_OFFICE.plan
  9. Thanks for the help guys. I've got a few ways to work the workaround now. Again, thank you- J
  10. Hey All- Trying to make my own column using the following objects that I was following along on a video from CA Tutor. BASE: Countretop w/ moulding TAPER: CA Rectangle shape TRIM: Pline Solids (top/bottom taper trim) My issue: I cannot group select them all in plan view and make a new unit / symbol or add to library. When I group select all items I do not get a "square" to merge all items into a new unit like he does. What am I missing here? Youtube video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2C4IXfAvPI (Issue in question about 9:30 into video.) Included snapshot and plan. LATEST1.plan
  11. Perfect answer. Thank you. Worked exactly as you described. Why in the world didn't I think of that. sheesh! I bow:) Thank you-

  13. Hey All- Ok, so I have a floor plan that has 3 oval sinks in the original layout and 2 in an *optional bath layout to the right. The builder wanted the *optional bath layout so I pulled a copy of the original bath over to the right, reworked the layout and thought it was good to go. Not! I noticed the doors / windows / cabinets and appliances all were being added to their respective schedules, which is what they should do unless you click "do not include in schedule". Ok, so I removed all the doors / windows / cabinets (even the sink bases that the sinks sat on) from their schedules, but when I got to the two sinks I could not find the "do not include in schedule" button. They are individual units. I don't know how to remove them from the schedule and it's driving me nuts. The schedule shows 5 sinks and I really only need to schedule for the 3 original sinks. I've included pics to explain. For whatever reason I'm not able to upload the plan. I'll try again after I post this. Thank you in advance..
  14. That helped me the rest of the way! Thank you thank you thank you!!!!!!!
  15. Great! thank you. The sub-fascia is typically not as tall as the fascia but in this cottage-style that is what is being called for. I got it to fill in with your suggestion. Thank you. As for the two gable attic walls...I'm getting closer but cannot replicate what you did for some reason. Hmm. I turned off auto attic walls and created my own which helped but I cannot seem make the full gable return come across the front of the larger gable and finish the frieze board either at the top. Here is what I've got so far.... Thank you for your help! FRONT ELEVATION ISSUES 2.pdf
  16. Hey all- I've got a plan that I'm having some issues with. The two front gable walls on the right side of this plan are giving me fits and I know it's how I've built them but I just cannot figure out how to fix them. I have attached the plan and a pdf elevation with the explanation of the issues at hand. Also, I cannot get my sub fascia to build and show in my elevations and camera views. They are on the "framing, roof rafter layer", which I have turned on and they show on the gable ends but not under the hips. I started with an automatic roof but then rebuilt multiple roof planes manually so when I go to rebuild the roof I check the boxes for "Retain manually drawn roof planes" and "Retain edited automatic roof planes" Under the "Structure" tab I click "build roof framing" too and they don't show up. I'm stumped. As always........Thank you!!! FRONT ELEVATION ISSUES.pdf TVB-BRIARWOOD-LEFT-SLAB.plan
  17. RL inc! got it! I was not sending with plot lines. Doah! Thank you, they look great!
  18. Ok, so I send my elevations to layout and finalize them. They look just like I want them. The customer wants a pdf so he can print them. When I send the layout page to .pdf they look washed and completely dull. My dimensions look fine but the rest of the elevations don't look good at all. FYI, I tried printing them directly to my printer and they come out just fine. I did not make a pdf of them for my printer first either, just direct print from layout. Hmmmm. Any suggestions? 19. I'm about to start marketing my services and would like to know how other CA members gained builders and customers? Was it flyers / website / direct mail / handshakes / newspaper or magazine ad etc. You get the point. What did you do to get builders to start using you and customers to know that you exist? Do you have an example or template that you found to work well? Before I pull the trigger I thought it would be wise to ask those who have walked this path successfully. Thanks again! Justin
  20. Great ideas! Thank you very much for your input. J
  21. Sooo, I have some ideas as to how I would go about creating this lower level space but I'm not quite sure how to go about it. I'm sure someone has drawn one of these and can get me headed in the right direction. See attached picture... Thanks a bunch
  22. EUREKA! Thank you very much. Again....My monkey brain not firing on both cells. So close but yet soooooooo far. Again, thank you!!! Justin
