  1. Hi and thanks. I got it. I didn't realise I had an invisible wall up there. Deleted that, but also took out the floating balcony and after rebuilding all the walls around it and redefining them, I finally got it to work. Still having trouble aligning walls but am working on it. Thanks David.
  2. I have tried creating the 2nd floor room where the stairs start as an open below, but I still end up with the same result. I also have this gap in the wall and one at the ceiling. I'm not sure what to do next to fix this.
  3. Sorry Greg, but that's not it. I've attached the pic from it. I still can't get through to the top floor as there is only a little gap to get through, and the 2nd floor is over the garage. I've also got a gap in the walls. thanks though.
  4. Hi. I am having trouble generating a stairwell up to the 2nd floor over the garage. I have a railing suspended in mid air (attached picture) and the stairwell won't generate. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong, but I bet it is something simple. I'm also having trouble with the wall not generating properly where you can see the icf sticking out, and there is a gap between the ceiling and the roof. Any help will be much appreciated. Cheers and thanks. Coralie Barn Copy.plan
  5. Thanks so much Michael. Yep, I really appreciate it you laying out the steps so I could follow along. The last one worked for me. I now have the walls in the drop down menu again. Yay! Cheers Mate. P.S. I reckon they need a smilie holding a beer or two.
  6. Hi Joe. So I think I understand you. If I click on one of the walls I want from an older plan and then click on export, I can export it to another plan? Can the plan be a new plan?
  7. Hi all, I don't know what to do about this. 2 of the wall types I use frequently, (ICF Stone and ICF Stucco) have disappeared from my wall types dbx. I have no idea where they are. They just don't show up anymore. I have made new wall types eg. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-02944/defining-a-new-wall-type.html I have done this, but don't understand where the 2 walls that were previously there before I had to manually create them have gone. It's a bit of a drag having to create these walls whenever I start a new plan when they were an option before. I don't know what happened here. Does anyone have any ideas?
  8. Thanks Guys. Chopsaw, your method worked for me. Thanks. Turned it all to metric. Hi Glenn. I was using one of the Chief sample plans and modified it to suit our conditions better, but it was all in imperial, so I needed to swap it to metric. I have made the change to creating mine in metric recently as I'm getting ready to send off to suppliers for quotes. Thanks for the tips on dimension lines. Cheers Coralie
  9. Hi all, I have a plan in imperial measurements, but I want to switch the display to metric units. Is this possible? Thanks Coralie
  10. It probably is bad architecture as I'm no architect. LOL. I think I will have to make some adjustments to my building. It was new, not a rebuild. I have been working on a copy of it, so I'll make a few changes. Cheers and thanks. Coralie
  11. Thanks Eric and Yusuf so much. That is what I needed. Some ideas on how to do the roof over that section. I had tried a number of different ways, but they looked ridiculous. I'm learning, but I'm getting there. Thanks again so much. Really appreciate it. Cheers and thanks Coralie P.S. I'll let you know how it turns out.
  12. Thanks David. Believe me, I've been doing that. I have tried manually without success. I just needed a helping hand with some ideas. I will get to it.
  13. Hi Guys, I'm having some trouble with this roof in my plan. I've been trying to create a clerestory roof over the main living area. I think I've done that. I wanted Gable roofs over the garage and the front bedroom, but I'm having a bit of trouble with the in between bits. I'm too afraid to change the hip roof in case it goes wonky. Can someone please take a look at it and tell me what they would do with that bit in between the garage and the bedroom with the gable? I've tried many different solutions, but none seem to work so far. Thanks Coralie Marthas Barn.plan
  14. Thanks Glenn, I made it 995mm deep and 2626mm wide.
  15. Thanks Glenn. I'll make a landing. Yes, about the stairwell business too.
  16. Thanks for your help guys. I tried both methods and it seemed the last one worked for me. I created a 2nd floor as suggested and called that "open below", and I realigned the stairs. I don't know why, but there was no option to create a stairwell for me, but when I look in the 3D camera, the stairs are going up to the 2nd floor and seem okay. I will attach my plan again. If you wouldn't mind looking at the stairs and telling me what you think, I would appreciate it. Thanks again. Coralie Meadow Lea.plan
  17. Hi all, I sure there is a simple explanation, but I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong with my stairs. I'm trying to put a set of stairs going up from the living room to the bedroom at the top which is over the kitchen. But for the life of me, I can't get it to go up properly. I tried building a stairwell, but it went out over the room, and looks crazy. I had no problem putting in the stairs in the garage, just can't do this one. Can someone please have a look at my plan and tell me what I'm doing wrong please? Cheers and thanks Coralie Meadow Lea.plan
  18. God I'm a dope. Sorry mate. I can see it now. I wasn't recognising CA 34 as the crown molding and was looking for the actual words. AGGGHHHHH!!!!! Thanks and cheers to you.
  19. Hi all, I want to remove crown molding from certain rooms and not the whole floor. Does anyone know how to do this please? Cheers Coralie
  20. Hi guys. I finally got rid of those walls. I kept having to go in and change all the walls again and then I hit those ones until they changed and stayed changed. So thanks for that tip on no room selection and the attic walls. I'll have to keep working at it though to see if the gaps were resolved, but at least I have a floor now. cheers.
  21. Still no good. I redid unchecking attic walls and no room selection. Still have these walls where I don't want them. I've attached a pic.
  22. No Luck. I tried to change them to attic walls but they refuse to delete and I still can't select any rooms. I'm really reluctant to delete the floor and start again as I've done that umpteen times and I finally have the roof going the way I want. I really wish chief had a project tutorial on building these types of cabins with these roofs because they look simple, but are really hard. sigh.
  23. Hi Guys, I'm attaching my plan for you to see. I'm having a real problem with my 2nd floor. Actually, quite a few problems as you can see. I'll list them below: 1. There are gaps in my walls and I can't fill them in. 2. I can't select any of the rooms on the top floor. 3. There is no floor, but I can't select the rooms to fix the structure. 4. I can't delete any of the walls inside the rooms on the top floors near the windows at the back. If anyone can help me with these problems, that would be great. I'm exhausted trying to sort it out. Cheers and thanks, Coralie Fairy Wren.plan
  24. Thanks David, I will certainly keep at it. I'm so grateful to everyone here on the forums who has taken the time to give me tips and explain things to me. It means a whole lot. I know I'm on a steep learning curve too, but I'm pretty persistent. Cheers Coralie.
