" I think I'm done rendering in Chief .. "

No I fully understand you are using material prompts and stuff to create interiorly designed/decorated rooms. And it is saving you a lot of time so also money I get that. But one AI called stable diffusion AI you tell it I want to see David bowie as Obi-won and sometimes you will get 6 figures and an extra hand on the lightsaber. I am not a graphic designer so I tried to use AI to create a flyer for my sons birth day in fact I even asked ChatGPU how to write the prompt and used the prompt it gave me and it was still producing weird things. For example changing numbers in my RSVP number or the date of the party. "Create a fun and vibrant birthday flyer for Odin's 12th birthday party. The theme should be exciting and kid-friendly, with bold colors and playful elements. Include the following details: Date: April 19th, 2025 Time: 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM Location: Address was here RSVP: Phone number was here Make the text easy to read and eye-catching, and add some birthday-themed graphics like balloons, confetti, and a cake!" The AI changed the phone number, put the wrong date, time, Even changed the 12th birthday to 21st birthday. The only thing it got right was the birthday theme I had to take a few different ones and smash them together to make one coherent Flyer. Now did it same me time oh heck ya it did, and because it is not something I normally do it really helped me a lot and I am grateful. But AI has a long way to go before it really starts to get things right. If it works for your needs more power to you Truthfully the part of doing this work I like you are giving to the AI... AI is really really good with color enhancements but it still falls short IMO to be used in a professional work flow. -

In the case of @VisualDandD his Twin-motion rendering and the AI rendering it would be a few control flips and simply moving a slider for the lighting. Sure A.I. is faster but only if it does not mess something up. Even when I have asked AI to write the prompt it messes stuff up on a simple birthday invitation let alone a house. -

You could likely get the results the AI got since you mentioned you use TM for your renderings, by using some of the filters or adjusting the lighting from say 5500k to 3500k and using a HDR back drop rather then a cloudless sky. I have learned that when it comes to renderings it depends on the audience for me something in the middle of the two renderings would be what I like. The main difference I see is the lighting level. -
Basement soccer fields...

This you do not want a stray bullet exiting the structure and killing someone or something. In the city of Burbank CA they have a indoor Gun Range though I believe the it is only for Pistols but the entire building is of concrete block on the walls there is some absorbent materials like a hard rubber matting likely for sound absorbtion. While you do not commonly build basements you could still could depending on your budget... You would need to change the soils type so the it does not retain so much water and moisture. Also you would need a to install a drainage system to remove any excess water and install some serious water profing. The main issue is how deep is the water table on the property when we build basements near the ocean we install 2 layers of geo textile matting in opposite directions, we then lay 4" of sand with a 18" Matte foundation with French drains carried to a sump pit. The direct area around the basement up to roughly 5 feet away for the first 3 feet vertical we install sand, then 3 feet of gravel and lastly 3 feet top soil. This reduces the capillary pressure found in the soil when the ground water level is high and the soil is expansive with a high retention value. The most important thing about a basement is keeping the moisture out. By installing gravel and sand you allow the water dissipate into the ground. If I had a gun range at my house I would want it in the ground as it would provide a better situation for firing higher caliber rounds without fear of something exiting the building. Also, with sand and gravel around the basement walls it will disperse the sound.

I would not begin to know what kind of work around you would use in Chief to make it, in most modeling softwares you would use a tool for massing called a sweeping blend. This kind of tool would allow a solid with two distinct shapes. Blender, Maya, 3ds Max, Cinema 4D, Rhino, Fusion 360 (has a free version). Then import into chief. Attached is a driveway apron with various file types that can be imported into Chief and a few that cannot. Driveway Apron.zip

Sorry that the word dishonest or hate offends you, I thought that those word were already down a lot of notches.

IMO as an Architect we should hold ourselves to a higher standard than the builders and not fudge things more often then apsolutly necessary.... I am currently not employed because the Design build company that I was working for was always trying to do things that I found ethically wrong but also in direct violation of the zoning ordinances and the building code. Fudging things in my experience is because you want to be dishonest and I hate dishonesty.

What is the tilde mark for?
-
1. Exactly you just want to get past the plan checker. 2. IF you want it to be shorter generally you would just draw it right with the right information but also keep in mind that framers hate small fractions and try and keep them close to 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 anything else and they are cursing you.... In the case here since @JKEdmo has an as-built condition I would not put a pitch at all I would say to match the existing.
-
Because at 3 1/2:12 would make the drawing exceed the height limitation just like I previously said. So you draw it at 3 5/16 so on the drawing it does not exceed the height limitation but you make it read 3 1/2 : 12 so that it is built the way you want. If you make it the right pitch it will exceed the height limitation. I am not the only one that thought this since @SHCanada2 said practically the same thing I did only real difference is he addressed that it also could be an existing condition.
-
One reason that I do not condone would be: High limitation if you use the right pitch you will exceed it so you draw it at one height/pitch and build it at another since the plan checker will check the high but no building inspector is going to and even if they do if you are only a few inches over they will chalk it up to field construction. Some contractors love to live in the grey area and walk the line of what is code compliant and what is not. Also I am not sure any framer is going to follow that 3 5/16 : 12 pitch... Maybe 3 1/4 : 12... I am not sure I would want my tolerance set to 1/2 but 1/8" - 1/4" is what I have had contractors ask me for they get really prissy when you give them fractions like 5/16 or 3/32 lol.

What happens after a monthly subscription ends?

Yea it goes up every time you blink your eyes, the point I was making was that it was not $14 a year like the other person said. When I purchased my 3yr sub 2yrs ago I paid $2100 a year or there about. -

I know this is super late but as a longtime 20+ year Revit user it is more like $2000+ a Year it is a subscription you get a minor discount IF you do three year subscription. Chief is for three years would be less than 1 year of Revit. That said Chief is one of the more cost effective solutions.
