  1. Thanks to everyone for the help! That sounds very doable. Yes, @Renerabbitt, I've got those templates. Sweet. Now I'll just wait and see if I hear from him again. We did some work for someone in Oregon a while ago, and he said it's a good thing there's a law against killing contractors, because if there wasn't, he would be hunting his contractor down. He had a house that was a few years old and already falling apart. So I get why there are requirements. But as good ol' Nassim Taleb says, the more red tape there is, the more layers there are for the really bad actors to hide in.
  2. I just got a call from a potential client looking for someone to get their plans up to the city's requirements. I've done plans for Modoc County CA (look on a map, it's got 3,900 sq mile, 9,000 people, and zero Walmarts), but I have no experience with the more populous cities. I'm set up to do CA energy calcs. I'd really like to get the experience and the job. I guess I'm wondering if I should even try, or if I should refer him to one of you guys. Is Irvine going to be pretty straight forward if I just give them what they're asking for, or am I wasting this guy's time?
  3. Thank you sir! Finally took the trouble to find my settings.
  4. I'm Kenton Mast, thanks for pointing that out, guess I should give myself a face!
  5. I'm one of those guys transitioning from building things to drawing things. I've taken some interior design classes, and it so happens that most of my experience is in designing and building portable cabins, Tiny Homes, and small houses. Check out my website, kmastdesign.com . Thanks to @Renerabbitt for the templates and all the videos!
  6. I was going to ask where, I decided to look one more time. In case anyone's as blind as me....
  7. I like that! Hope you start a thread about the Proxmox setup if you ever decide to give it a go.
  8. Anyone else wish the big guys would get interested in supporting Linux? I have no idea what the challenges would be in getting renderings to work on Linux, but the overall ecosystem has come a long way. I use Mac when I can't use Linux. I use Windows when I have to do something on someone else's computer. But there's warm and fuzzy sentiment and ideology, and then there's cold, hard reality.
  9. Is there a way to change the which side is the front? I know I can rename elevations, but my OCD doesn't like to do that if I don't have to...
  10. This is the method I have settled on, at least for now, and I'm pleased with it. I've been trying to build a lean-to that is touching but not integrated with the second phase of the project. I want to be able to slide it up against for reference while leaving all my automatics on without CA integrating them as one structure. I have the lean-to floor plan referencing the main structure, and the main structure 3D model referencing the lean-to.
  11. Getting this error as well. X16 Mac intel If I remember correctly, the first time it came back when I closed and reopened CA. Now it's gone, except in 3d ..... turns out I was on floor zero, with no footers and framing layers off.
