  1. Many thanks for the answer, MarkMc! I've been trying to repeat the exercise the same way you did but I think I'm getting problems with the measures of my soft. I work with metres but I applied your units thinking that the programme would convert them. I think something went wrong cos the result was not what I expected. I didn't find a way to change the right measures in the Number style...option. About the lights, I found out that I'm not placing lamps properly cos ilumination is not enough yet. I'll keep on studying about this. Thanks!
  2. I have a pair of questions related to moldings and lights in version X14 of Chief Architect. I have a basic knowledge about moldings and I don’t know how to build a “molding inside a molding” (pictures attached)? I just created a symbol but it doesn’t look so realistic. I though about a solid polyline but it doesn’t allow moldings. If I make a molding polyline I can’t rotate it properly. Another doubt is when I worked with version X12 all lamps in general gave light enough. In version X14 everything looks almost in half-light. I tried to manipulate the data light of lamps getting no results. Whatever idea will be welcome. Many thanks!
  3. Hi, SusanC! I have installed Substance and, definently, it's a really cool programme to build tiles. I usually work with carpets in the style of the textures included in Warner Wallcoverings but I'll get Substance in mind to work with bathrooms, kitchens and so on (I'm begining with just rooms). I still have a lot to learn!
  4. Hi, SusanC! Many thanks for your answer. Unluckly, I didn't make the plaid from scratch. I just downloaded from 3D Warehouse. I'm still learning to build objects and it's going slow. What I do to build materials for floors and walls is just what you said: I make a screenshot from a good picture and import it. I wish that bonus catalog of throws and blankets is available soon. I really need it! Tons of thanks!
  5. I'm still trying to make the throw - back clipped section of a possible plaid but I don't understand very well the tools available (guided lines, points...). For the moment I've used one of the symbols at 3D Warehouse. It doesn't look perfect but it's ok. Many thanks for your help, Eric, Mark and Joseph
  6. Many thanks for the big help, Eric! I knew about 3D Warehouse but I had problems to import symbols. Now I know how the process is made. Why some symbols stretch textures and materials (picture attached)? I'll check the option of making objects from the begining, Joseph cos I really need it. My plaid doesn't look too attractive yet and I'd love improving it.
  7. What I'd like to do is building a plaid from the begining. My problem is I don't know how to apply curves to a solid polyline. I suppose the texture is a bit easier thanks to the materials.
  8. I thought patterns and materials were different things. I'm used to work with materials but if I chose a pattern and drag it into an object nothing changes. Do patterns allow to build new objects like a plaid or they just work as a normal material?
  9. Hi, Eric; thanks for your help. I've been using the bedspread until now cos I didn't know how to make the plaid. I have never used patterns. I tryed once but it didn't work. You mean I can convert a bedspread, for example, in a plaid?
  10. Hi I’ve been trying to build a plaid for a bed since long time ago but, despite it looks easy, I can’t get a good result. What I do is create a rectangular polyline, convert it into a solid one, then convert it to spline > advanced splines and try to modify all the mess manually. I’m trying to find out a way to “draw” what I want to build. It’s just a rectangle with some curves but it’s becoming really difficult. Any ideas? As always, many thanks in advance
  11. I saved my project on a folder with all used files but I keep on getting the same problem. Another curious thing that happens is that the orbit camera changes. It doesn't move normally when this kind of error comes. Maybe the problem is in my computer. My graphic card is a Geforce GTX 960. It's an old one.
  12. Many thanks for letting me know, Kbird1. Is it enough with saving the project inside a folder or do I have to back up the entire plan?
  13. I usually save the project on the desktop with no folder. Then I just compress it in zip with all the files used. I'll make a try. Thanks!
  14. One more time, this is a clear proof that I don't know the right names about interiors and architecture, specially in English! Tons of thanks again, Michael! I think now I have managed to create what I want. It's not totally perfect but I'll keep on improving. Thanks again!
  15. I'm working with Chief Architect Premier X12 and, when I'm using the software for a long time and delete something I get the following window (picture attached). It's not comfortable cos I have to click on Cancel to keep on working. The bad thing is the programme removes all my cameras so I have to set them again. I don't know the reason why of this problem.
  16. I have made several tryes with the pass-thru and the wall niche. Both are interesting; maybe the wall niche is more complete but a bit messy for me too. Is there a way to change the molding on the top of the niche in order to make it different from the rest one?
  17. Hi, Michael! I hadn't though about the doorway. I've just made a try and, maybe, it could work. I'm getting some problems to fit the forniture to the moldings but I think I can manage. I suppose there are other better methods to make a hole in a wall but I'll keep on studying. There are too many options in this programme!
  18. Hi there! I've been trying to find out a way to make holes in walls but I didn't find any solution yet. I tryed to create a polyline and, then, convert it into a slab with footing but I could't rotate the solid piece to put it in the wall. I guess the right method is very different. My plan is to build something similar to a forniture in the wall.
  19. Definently, now I'm closer to where I want to be. Is there a way to add points to the created object (in this case, the curtains) in order to adapt it carefully and give it the right shape? For example, like in Photoshop?
  20. I always work with m. For example, for me the format X/X" is a bit messy and it's the one used in all tutorials in English
  21. I could make the file work with no problems this time. Now I am stuck on the Replace From Library indicator. I cannot find it. I was trying the Replace From Library tool marked in the screenshot but I don’t know if it’s the right one. When I click on it nothing happens. Probably I’m using something wrong.
  22. Hi, Alaskan_Son! Many thanks for such a long explanition! Unluckly, I could not load your file. Probably it's because I'm using an old version of Chief Architect (X12 Premier). I'll try to open your file in another computer but I think it won't work. Do you know any other method to curve objects? Anyway, the one you explained looks interesting. I understood everything!
  23. Helo, everybody again Here we go with more questions. In this example (picture attached) I have managed to build the “circle” up in the wall over the bed thanks of the help of all the users in my last topic talking about the moldings. How can I curve an object, in this case, some curtains? I’m seeing that applying some curves in some objects I can do many useful things. Many thanks in advance
  24. I think I have achieved my aim talking about curtains thanks to everybody in this topic. I wish I could help others but, for the moment, I only have one million of basic questions about how to do one thing or another. I don't know if opening a new topic to keep on asking (there are some things I can't find a way to do yet) or just stay quiet for some time. Asking too much is not polite.
  25. I think I get it! I don't know if I did it in the most properly way since I just created the crown molding, added the valance and... well... I just built a polyline piece, converted it into a polyline solid and put it in the hole (in a really "manual" way). Probably the method is not perfect but it looks much better than when I started this topic. I still have many questions but I don't want to overwhelm the forum so I'll keep on trying and see if there are things I can learn by myself
