So are you all set with the core libraries on X6? I didn't follow with the backups and iDrive stuff. I do have my core library from X6.

OP, I just tried to load my libraries for X6 on my current machine; they are downloadable content and I was unable to fetch them (likely source files from CA no longer available). I'll check my home office computer tonight; fingers crossed I have the libraries downloaded there. I'll post back.

Hey folks, thanks for the replies, my notifications weren't enabled. CV, I like that solution, just a couple clean dimensions to "their" wall. Something the trades are probably more used to anyway (taking wall dims from the main layout). Glad to know I wasn't just missing something simple with those blocks. Also didn't think about various wall finishes, especially since what I draw is very basic with a lot of "builder to field coordinate with Owner".

OP, a Quonset hut is a manufactured product, pre-made materials will be delivered and it will be assembled rather than built. You'll really need to get in touch with whatever manufacturer is used to supply the hut shell and find out the cost to get a certified copy of their engineered documents. Usually these manufacturers will have certification across a huge swath of States, maybe need a local engineer just for the foundation. Something to check with the manufacturer before any order: make sure it has or can design to standards that meet IBC risk category II; most ag-accessory buildings are Risk I with associated "less stringent" requirements. Risk Category II is "normal" and associated with living spaces. Then (depending on jurisdiction), all you really need is a floor layout, insulation, and egress requirements. Most likely an engineer not part of the manufacturer's original design will not want to retroactively design that type of system without stratospheric costs associated with recalculating/modeling the whole thing.

I don't regularly dimension plumbing infrastructure, but have a client asking for dims to help him with plumbing layout on a slab. Using point-point dims, the "standard shower" will grab a center of the whole block, but doesn't recognize the drain location (slightly offset from the drain). The toilet picks up a center that's roughly the center of the bowl, rather than the plumbing rough-in location. Is it possible to somehow manually set where you want the dimension line to "snap" to on a plumbing (or other) block? I tried to "explode" (I'm more used to CAD terms) it, but that button doesn't appear when the block is highlighted. I also tried to "place point" but for the life of me I can't make it appear at my crosshairs when I'm visually placing it at a (say) drain (it shifts slightly down and right, sometimes up and left, its like trying to pick up an orby). Plus, I would like to have the dimension point "built-in" to the block when used. Hopefully it's something simple. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks all.

Thank you RR, that did it. It was set on default, which I must have somehow modified.

Hope this is just a simple setting / toggle. My posts aren't displaying in plan view. They show up fine in ortho. Even changing to to something like a 10" post with a 2" beam (no hand rails or spindles), nothing shows up. I have a feeling that something happened when I was fiddling around trying to add a floor. But, I hadn't noticed until just now. The "framing, posts" is displayed; changing to "all on" still does not display them. If I go to a different plan, draw a railing, it displays posts like normal. Any help is appreciated. Thanks all.

Hey folks, I'm certain I've done this before, but cannot recall how. Is it possible to make a simple shape (i.e. a 12" CAD circle) into a generic electrical object that I can then connect with the electrical connect tool? I've looked at the "covert polyline..." options, but nothing gets me to an electrical object that the program will recognize. I'm unable to come up with appropriate search language to get my answer. Is this possible or am I mis-remembering?

Large Flat soffit.plan Is it possible to cause Chief to draw a large flat soffit without defining a room below? This is a manufactured metal building, just making a couple of quick elevations for the building department. The overhang areas do extend down as seen on ortho. I basically just need to show that flat soffit all the way back to the wall. Thank you all.

Well, I cobbled it together with invisible walls, couldn't quite get an autobuild going, but once I set the roof to my liking, CA sure made some nice looking trusses.

Is it possible to define this type of roof over an open room in one fell swoop? Or does it need to use invisible walls to set the gambrel roof, the typical shed at the "wings". I really just need to make it for an elevation & roof plan, then let a truss company come up with the actual design. Thought it might be ... interesting ... to see if I could define it for CA to handle all at once.

Alaskan son, that is a great trick. I've been trying Chrisb's solution, but it's such a change from how I've typed for years, I had to switch back (old dogs, new tricks and all). Ctrl + tab, enter is just what I was hoping for. Couldn't get the "OK" radio button to highlight with key combos, never thought to change option screen first.
