  1. A few framing issues on this one, when inserting a door, it isn't automatically framing, and it actually has the girt layer in the doorway, is there an option for auto framing a door (auto framing is on) Thanks, Michael KATHY1.1 (2).zip
  2. Per specifications, I need to place 2 girts around the structure, however the lowest span is different than the upper, I thought I could make changes on a elevation view, but this shows the wall, not the framing? Any ideas? Michael
  3. Thanks! I’ll check it out
  4. ComputerMaster86 hasn’t responded yet, is there anyone who knows metal buildings?
  5. ComputerMaster86, you were recommended to me to help me with framing on a barndo structure.  If you could help it'd help me a lot.   I have a house like structure that needs metal columns 20' spacing with purlins across the roof span at the location of the columns, I use Chief primarily but need help with metal framing.

    Hope to hear from you!

    Thanks,

    Michael

I have been involved in post-framed buildings a 12+ years but, only in wood framing.  I have not really dealt with metal framing.

  6. Nice thanks! PM on FB Messenger or here on this site?
  7. Let me if attaching plan files will be easier ??
  8. So, I'm new to framing in Chief. I attached a image, its how far I've gotten. Since I'm trying to create a metal building, I need to create columns (6X8) 20' apart, is this possible in the framing options? Also, there will be purlins above each column. Thanks in advance. KATHY1.1 (3).zip
  9. So I produce plans that include a 3d image, elevations, floor plans electrical, and mechanical. Does anyone here include framing on their plans? Thanks Michael
  10. Is it possible to offset the railings inward to create a 3ft overhang?? Possibly making the outer railing invisible and create walls inward?
  11. Created Rails on second floor, see plan file. I created the walls as solid, to beam, at 96". However, in the 3d plan its only showing them beams. Also, if this gets fixed, will it be possible to cut into the ceiling/floor for stairs? Thanks as always. TH5.plan
  12. Seems to fix the problem thanks!
  13. I created a floorplan somehow on the 2nd level, so with the auto story dimensions, the subfloor is 9.1, is there a way to move the project to floor one so the dimensions will read correctly? Thanks.
  14. I used the rectangle tool and filled it asphalt material, however having difficulties putting parking lines. How did you do this?
  15. Its more for 3d rendering.
  16. I created a building in a different plan, tried to copy/paste it and the second story didn't show. I tried exporting as a DXF, but the scaling was off (took up most of the terrain) ...
  17. I ended up drawing the road tool, and then tracing with a line and then deleting the road. After that you can convert it to pline and then it will make a road. Answered my own question, haha, anyways thanks!
  18. I apologize for the multiple postings, I'm new to terrain features and just received a project that needs it. With that being said, I have two road segments that I need to intersect in one juncture, see attached. Thanks.
  19. What is the best way to construct a parking lot that will show in a 3d view?
  20. I have 3 buildings on a site plan, I'm trying to add a second floor on ONE of the buildings but it's creating a 2nd floor on all 3. Any ideas?
  21. I imported a dxf file and need it to be at a 1:1 scale, see attached, the dimensions don't match. Can it be modified to scale this? Thanks as always
  22. Is it possible to import a jpeg or pdf site plan, convert to cad lines and to scale. Thanks in advance
  23. Thanks, I was only considering pitch, not baseline and facia as factors. Greatly appreciated
