  1. It looks like I found a workaround. So accessing the Active Layer Display dialog through the main menu bring up the dialog in its own window. If I access the dialog from the toolbar on the right side, it tries to embed the dialog within the main window and that's where it goes south and is largely unusable.
  2. Hey folks, I just updated to 24.2.0.51 for Windows 64 bit and now the Active Layer Display Options DBX isn't really usable. I can't dock/undock it, move it, etc. It does respond to some mouse clicks but not all and the only way I can get rid of it is by hitting the tool button. It looks to be some sort of window layering issue because you can see in a few spots the windows and toolbars rendering underneath. I've already submitted a case but was wondering is anybody else has seen this issue? It's new to me. Is there a way to retreat to a previous release? Thanks! Cody
  3. I'm in Granbury, so basically DFW
  4. After hours of gnashing of teeth. I was able to get it, with a bit of a hack. Today I learned that in order for the roof cut the wall at the bottom the entire wall must be under the roof plane. I also had to insert attic walls on the second floor. The hack was to make a special wall definition where the attic wall in the bathroom was 3/16" thinner than my wall definition. I don't know why I had to do this, but my guess was that there is something else causing the problem that I couldn't track down. The solution is still not perfect because the ceiling doesn't join the wall all the way in the bathroom. You can see a little OSB. It's fine, I don't plan on doing some showcase rendering of this kids' bathroom anyways.
  5. I've made a bit of progress. One of the walls in the bedroom was preventing most of the gable from closing in. Close, but not yet. Thanks for the tips!
  6. Will do and will keep you posted, thanks!
  7. Howdy, I've been monkeying around with this issue for many hours trying to figure out what magic is needed to get it to work. Found a couple of related posts on the forum but I haven't gotten there yet. So I have a gabled manual roof that needs a rake wall and I just can't get it to build. Ultimately I think the issue is that this rake wall doesn't sit on any wall in the house. I've tried creating attic walls, but I can't get those walls to extend down past the 2nd floor ceiling and close up the gaps below (except somehow I did it in the kid's bedroom by following a trick I found on a forum post, but for some reason didn't translate to other walls??) Attached is the plan and screenshots. The construction line shown in the plan images (one image is the 2nd floor, the other is the attic) is where I need the rake wall to sit. You can see it cuts through unfinished space, a bathroom, and a bedroom. Thanks in advance! Cody Live Oak Farmhouse.zip
  8. Thank you sir, that explanation helped a lot! I can't wait to try it. Cody
  9. Creating a wall and raising the bottom helped me pull this off as well! It took a lot of manual tweaking though. I'm still not a snaps expert.
  10. Thanks Eric for the message and the solution! You're my favorite already I should have my signature setup, and will definitely watch the videos and search as much as possible. I do my best to help myself but man this program can do about everything except your taxes.
  11. Hello fellow Chief users, This is my first post. I'm working on my very first project in Chief Architect (I'm a converted Sketchup user ), and will likely be peppering you fine people with all kinds of questions. I hope I can become a Jedi at this tool at some point to help out the community. Thanks in advance! You'll see in the attached images I have a brick water table that I made using a pony wall. You can also see on either side of the windows I have a brick wall cap that is supposed to run the length of the wall at 24" high. It appears when I add exterior casing to my windows the casing at the bottom ends up cutting into my water table, removing the brick wall cap that I want. I still want the window casings on the sides and on top of the window, but I'd like to remove the casing at the bottom so my cap doesn't get clipped. Is there a trick to pull this off? Thanks! Cody
