  1. Yeah...I have noticed something also where just a day or so ago, CA crashed and when I went to where it was saved, the file was gone.  I did have an archive file, so I didn't think much of it.  I thought it was just me and a one-time thing, but it sounds like it may be others too.  Sounds like something for Tech Support.

I can see the frustration there....especially when you have the setting correct and it still vanishes and losing hours of work.  It sucks!

  2. Not sure if this was your situation.....but, I have been caught using a new plan going to (File -> New Plan) and not saving it (being used to the auto-save feature) and had a crash or something causing CA to close and there is nothing to show for it.

That is why I use a template I copy to my desktop and not a "New Plan".  Because there is not saved location on a new file, so it has nothing that can be "auto-saved", archived....anything.

    Jared,

Actually when you open the Layout the Plan is automatically opened - it just doesn't show in the Project Browser until you open a view.  I'm not sure why CA doesn't display the Plan in the Project Browser immediately when you open a Layout.  I've asked for that for a couple of releases but they haven't done it.

After I posted that, I was wondering if that was what you were referring to....Thanks.

And that the Layout and the Plan are both open.

Why would they both need to be open?  Should only need the layout open.  Example: I copied a client's project to my desktop, deleted all the windows (Just for testing purposes), saved and closed CA.   Restarted CA, opened the layout and left the plan file closed.  Told CA to update views and it did.

Not sure if I am misunderstanding the reason both being open.

  6. I agree with you.  I know there has been some issues, it is just strange that it affects the length of the tab.  We both have (2) tabs, but mine are larger than his.  strange.

I do know that he isn't the type to mess around with the registry.  I guess I will kick over to tech support and give them another example of what is happening.  Thanks for your efforts.

  7. Michael - Thought of the OS also, but we are both on Windows 10.  We are both updated to the latest version of X9.  Text size seems to be the same, but the spacing of the tabs is the only difference I can see.

I will have him send me his version and we will see if that does it.  If not, looks like a tech support issue.

  8. Ok...I have a client I am working with and when we open the same text item, its overall appearance is different.  It looks like the tab spacing is longer in mine than his.  Not sure if this is something I can manipulate or not.

I attached the layout file that has the text boxes in it and stripped it down.  I also attached how it looks on our screens.  My screen is the "Capture" file and the clients is the word document.

This is how I received the file.  I don't put text on layouts, however, this is how my client wants it so I am doing it his way right now.

Curious Jared are you able to train on X9?

Being in the general Q&A section, I can not either confirm or deny this.

I will see the guys in the CA booth as I am interested to find out when public beta is coming out though.  I would expect tomorrow...but you never know.

This is a great point and has been discussed before.  So Let's talk about it again.

If you delete it from computer #1,  it is deleted from all computers...  correct?

Okay, if I delete it from computer #1 on Monday,  it is gone from all computers....  but...  but  ...  but....  on Tuesday I realize I deleted a file that is now gone from drop  box and all computers...  so how do I get it back?  If I have paid a little extra for something that DROPBOX offers which I believe is called PACK RAT,  can't I contact DROP BOX and restore files that were on the drop box on the previous Saturday.

What I have done is that I have Dropbox, but I also have OneDrive that is apart of my MS Office subscription.  So before I leave ( I try to everyday, but typically Mon/Wed/Fri)....I just copy everything in my Dropbox and copy it over the One-drive.  I didn't like using One-drive so that is why I went to Dropbox, so I figured, since I had the space on One-drive, use it as a backup.  That way if I accidentally delete a file on Dropbox, I can retrieve something from One-drive.
