Thanks. I did that but there is still ceiling artifacts in staircase windows. I think the problem is CA is not cutting away all the way to the windows. It is not possible to run the room divider wall all the way around the inside of the staircase. If it were, that should get rid of the artifacts. Can you see any fix to this issue, even if it is not ideal? Thanks cupola on fixed garage caps.plan

Thanks. It seems the only difference between the two techniques is if you drag, you simply do no know the number that represents the change in height. If you don't drag, you know. I'm curious why they don't cause the same subset of problems given that both have changed the height. R

Hi Rene, I need one of those hexagonal decorative roofs (stairwell) and this roof fascia is situated between first floor and second floor. In order to get truss bearings at this height I pull up first floor walls to a desired height between these two floors. When I create roof planes, they end up at the height BEFORE I pulled wall up. I then have to move these roof plane up in the Z axis to the height I need. Can you tell me if this is the only way to do this? Thanks, Rocky Gilkey almost roof.plan

Hi CA friends, I cannot place a window anywhere where the window would be at the level of the floor. I presumed that if I cut hole in floor in front of where window goes, the window would be allowed to be placed. I can get the window where I need it BUT part of the OSB-hrz layer shows in front of window at floor level. Is there a way to place a window at floor level without these artifacts? Thanks, Rocky

Hi Everyone. I would like to avoid doing the (create 2D cross section/draw CAD line/create polyline solid/convert to molded polyline), just so I can place a simple rectangular prism above a window ...specifically...Window Specification/Treatments (exterior millwork above casing) CA-001 shows up when I browse the library. This would work but it is not available as a Window Specification/Treatments library options. The closest I can find is Architectural/Millwork/Mantels,Lintals, & Sills/Striaght/Angled Header. It has six sides but two of them are angled. I also am trying to avoid adding a custom rectangular prism as I am doubtful it will show up under the treatments menu. Does anyone know of a window treatment library option under Windows Specification/Treatments/exterior millwork above casing) that is a rectangular prism? Thanks!

I have a window with casing switched on and a treatment above and a sill below. I am attempting to copy this window from first floor to paste in place on second floor. When I copy the width of the casing elongates several times the width of the window, while the height of the casing remains constant. Is this human error or a CA glitch? Thanks! CASING EXPLODES.plan

Yes, I know, I read it. But I refer to all dormer videos.

How I did it. I made one manually. Tried to copy it but couldn't tell what I was selecting and could never copy it all together. So I saved file as junk and deleted everything that was not dormer. I then exported it as 3ds and imported it to my house file and plopped them on.

Videos only show when everything goes right. What some people need to see is video where everything goes wrong and they show how they fix it. IHO

I have never had it work after error msg by moving it. That was the reason for question.

So if it throws error message you can move it and it may work? Or do you have to delete it and replace?

The problem must be I need an 8/12 pitch but it will only work on my 8/12 roof plane with less than 8/12 dormer roof plane pitches. Manual is the only way. Thx all!

But i need an 8/12 pitch. Did you have to create or delete any walls to get this to work with a 5/12 pitch?

Thanks Kbird, I have seen all of those. What I have never seen is a video where someone actually shows a dormer not being able to be built for one of two reason. 1. There is a wall in the way. 2. There is no wall. I need to see a video whereby someone says "Ok, this isn't working so I am going to go to the dormer settings and make some adjustments so it will work." Could the problem be that I don't have a second floor? I have successfully done it manually but I want to understand the reason that CA gurus easily plop dormers on roofs and never get an error message. It seems to have to do mainly with the absence or presence of a wall under the roof.

$10 to whoever adds two dormers.
