I have this too, but the group of active snaps is changing some how.

I have turned on the endpoint and midpoint snap settings several times, but they keep turning off. Are they saved in an anno-set or something? It would be nice to know so I can have what I need when I need it.

There is a flat roof and a low slope roof build in the 50's with very little thought of insulation, even in our Michigan climate. We will be re-roofing with ridged foam board above the T&G roof deck. I noticed that when I set framing rafters to the proper beam depth that the wall will not build up to the exposed deck, but stops at the rafter depth. Does this fill in later when I do the framing?

Can I set the beams/Rafters where I want? And I assume I use the "Rafter" button with all of its settings? If so, I will need to do some training on framing rafters. I may have a question latter about the "no ceiling finish" as in the past, I have selected no ceiling in a room and the drywall goes to the bottom of the rafter. This will be a fun and different type of project, which will require me to learn some other things in Chief.

I have a remodel of a 1950's house with a low slope roof shed style with sloped beams (3 1/2" x 11 1/4") that are exposed inside and out. What is the recommended modeling object for these? This is a first for me for something like this in Chief. Thanks

Yes, I do annosets. I am still experimenting with them to using them to the full potential. I have a wall cabinet that I cannot get a horizontal dim to snap to it and will not even see it. I have to draw a 2D cad line on every elevation for the dims to grab the elements the Dims will not grab.

I think the reason I said I might be wrong is that the process of dimensioning is not consistent. I nearly always struggle to get a dimension to snap to what I need. In x7 plan view I even point to a wall surface (wall surfaces are checked for both sides) and it snaps to something of lesser value like a soffit or an arrowhead that is more that 18" away from the wall I was pointing to. I can grab the snap point and drag it to the place I wanted, but this seems to be happening a lot. In a wall elevation, I snap to a point I can see and Chief indicates that it can see, then the extension line will end up on the opposite side of the elevation or, in one case, about 20' above the point I selected, connected to something invisible. Then there are those krazy "plus" signs. Chief indicates that it sees an intersection, but still adds a plus sign. I do not understand that. I find that I spend a lot of time fighting with dimensions, and there is no viable alternative in Chief, or I have been missing the secret to frustration free dimensioning.

I may be wrong, but the new feature to dimension cabinet molding and countertops does not seem to work on custom countertops and molding polylines. Usually, I would use the stuff with the cabinets, but some special situations required custom tops and crown mold. Anyone else experience this?

These "plus sign" marks are annoying when placing dimensions. Is there a way to turn them off? The dim tool sees the corners that I am dimensioning, but still places the plus sign. I have tried to move the reference point around and have been able to eliminate most plus signs but not all. They are BIG and look BAD on my drawing. BIG, BAD and BLUE! I fight with these things constantly on wall elevations and sections. I hate them.

I called TS and verified that the problem is not present in the X6 file but it happened when imported to X7 and doing nothing else. The plan has been submitted for testing.

All of these strange dims were referencing the center line of various fixtures (toilet, sinks, dishwashers, cook top) are now referencing the same point out in space.

This was a X6 plan opened in X7 for the first time. Upon closer inspection, these are part of dimensions that have now changed their reference points and are not connected to what they were connected to before.

I just opened my plan and noticed these dimension strings out in the middle of nowhere on my plan. No one else has access to the plan and I did not place them here. This is freaky and I have no idea what happened. Anyone experience this before?

Thanks for the video link MickeyToo. That is not a great solution, but it could be helpful. Looks like a lot of work for something that should be a lot easier.

That is so cool! I some how missed that feature and probably several others. Too bad I can't just post a question like, "Tell me what I don't know yet."

I have only half figured out the full benefit of anno sets and the default CAD layer was set to something I did not want. Nevertheless, I switch layers often and go back and forth to the plan and detail so now that I do understand what is driving the change it is still annoying as I would like it to remember what I was using last when I switch to the plan. This is over automation or less user friendly.

I was not aware that I could edit lines in Layout. How do I access the lines? I click the elevation and I get a gray box. Double click takes me to the Elevation in the model.

I have a set of 3 doors. the 2 flanking doors are fixed, but I used a swing door on either side. How can I have the same look of a door panel but no swing on two and yes swing on the middle?
