  1. Thank you for all the information you have provided. I have printed all your details and downloaded your library images, etc. Still trying to gauge sizing of images as opposed to backdrops. Most of my renders are exterior and I really didn't want to go to an outside software when I know I can learn from your info. I was doing ok til I upgraded to X16 then all my settings had to change so it is a learning curve. thanks again!
  2. Hi I'm wondering how to reset dimension defaults. I have attached the floor plan showing dimensions. But I'm trying to get window centers and sides to show for location but it only shows when I put my cursor on the window ( and even then does not show the distance from the Window casing to the room ) vanishes when I remove it. I checked my display preferences and dimensions are all showing as active I've gone into the DIMENSIONS default settings to make changes but none of my changes appear when I activate exterior dimensions icon in the tool bar --still does not show- I've been at this going back and forth to default settings but nothing is happening. Any suggestions are welcome What I'm trying to do for the contractor is show the window locations properly

not sure what's going on here but I must have done something while trying to change the fill color for the exterior walls...( didn't work) Now each time my cursor hovers over a room it turns black and I can't work in it. Any suggestions??

    PBR

Am using CAx16.. PBR -no refraction ? I'm finding that my go to values for lighting etc don't work now. Guessing its a brand new ball games. most of my projects are exterior house finishes so its going to be another set of values im guessing Any one else doing exteriors? Cheers Levina

    roof

HI Attaching a roof plan I'm having trouble with. it's a 4 :12 pitch Interior great room is 16 ft high in front and 12' back towards the garage area. I think that's where my problem lies. ROOFS can be the most challenging depending on the house design. I di not do auto roof but roof planes instead -can't seem to get the roof schematic in my head. looking at it too long - shed roof + gable roofs - 7' overhang garage area being deleted . when i put it together it looks not at all like the elevations is this pretty simple or am I making it complicated just need direction - is the shed roof coming over the gable part way? if so - it seems the gables would not be symetrical on the sides... thanks in advance Levina elevations.pdf
  10. HI I am attaching photo I am trying to recreate for my client. How do i get the different different levels. I tried to create two decks and join with stairs but didn't work- when I tried to build one deck and put another one over then move it to the desired area - it it didn't work. Its probably something sooo simple... Any suggestions are welcome .. Thanking you in advance Levina
  11. unfortunately I have no idea how to edit videos.. so i guess I will depend on Chief for my results.. Maybe I should do two videos (ie) living room kitchen dining room// --then hall- master bedroom and ensuite Thanks for your response,.. Levina
  12. Hi I am in the process of creating my first Walkthrough video for my client. Is there a preference for using the CAD spline and convert to walk through path or just use the create walk though ? Also when looking at some of the walk throughs in the online help videos it looks like they are using an outside software to edit the videos (splicing I think).. Is that really necessary or just for our benefit to show how the videos can look.( hopefully not necessary) Dustin Cruz has an easy to follow video so I am assuming this would be a good sample. I am not going to us fast and slow cameras but would use up and down plus want to have the PB rendering that match my still images Thanks again Any advise would be welcome. Cheers Levina
  13. Thanks! would never have thought of that.. That's why CT is so vital,,
  14. Hi How do install recessed / pot lights in a shed roof eave?? I've tried installed in plan view but they end up as ground path lights Thanks in advance Levina
  15. "Wondering if anyone uses the virtual tours for clients. I've been asked for a new home build virtual tour before foundation is laid in. Also if I could get an idea of the client fee for such a service it would be much appreciated" I can see that you have done many "tours" and they look amazing. I'm hoping I can produce the walkthrough myself My QUESTION - how much should I charge my client for an interior virtual tour ( or at least a rough estimate) I haven't been asked for one before
  16. Bob The videos are amazing.. Are using PBR with another external software. Also are you providing the service to me or just showing me how the videos can look.. If you are offrring the service what is your fee or if not what would you suggest I charge for this extra service. Thanks Levina
  17. HI Wondering if anyone uses the virtual tours for clients. I've been asked for a new home build virtual tour before foundation is laid in. Also if I could get an idea of the client fee for such a service it would be much appreciated Cheers Levina
  18. I didn't realize I could import elevations.. thanks
  19. Hi I imported this house plan to create a 3D rendering for my client - house plan has two individual residences - one side is a one level with a crawl space - the other is a full basement ( 5 ft below ground )as you can see by the attached PDF. with a second floor 1. do I treat this as a split level? or work up from the basement 2. When I tried to add the second floor ( to at least have that added- seeing how I wasn't getting anywhere with the foundation) it does not show in my plan view and when I use perspective full overview only main floor shows ( with the foundation ) Wondering if it has something to do with the imported PDF Any assistance is welcome Cheers Levina
