I already have the house plans, so my understanding was that with the terrain perimeter I’d be able to build the houses and lay out the cul-de-sac, driveways, and related site elements. I’ve been reading and watching tutorials on DWG files, but I feel like I’m missing something. When I import the file, I don’t see any blocks—only linework—and I’m not sure if that’s expected or if I’m missing a step. It may simply be part of the learning curve. I’d appreciate any feedback or direction, as I want to make sure the client gets what they’re looking for. Thanks in advance.

Hi I know I’ve mentioned this before, but now that I have the DWG files, I just want to make sure I’m understanding what I’m seeing as I work through this. I’ve attached the site plan along with the DWG view on my end. In the file, I’m seeing two terrain outlines—one for the full area and another just for the new development. I’m not seeing any perimeter measurements, and I’m also not seeing any house blocks or building footprints, which I thought might be there. When I open the Architectural block, I can see the lines, but there are no measurements showing for scaling. I also can’t seem to change the CAD lines into a terrain perimeter. I’ve also attached sample image of the layer blocks so you can see what’s coming through in the DWG file on my end. Just wanted to check if this is normal at this stage, or if those pieces usually come through in a separate file. Thanks appreciate your assistance new site plan.pdf

thanks that sounds good, I have never worked with symbols but this is all a learning curve.. so when you did it. did you change by the hour or a flat fee. trying to figure out how I can give client an estimate. If you can provide any options its greatly appreciated Cheers

What he wanted to see was a composite image showing three 5-plex buildings, three single-family houses, and two additional 4-plex buildings placed onto a drone image of the site he provided. I attempted to do this using Photoshop and ChatGPT, but integrating designed building units into a real drone image proved challenging. I wasn’t able to get the rendered units to scale properly within the scene, and the overall result didn’t look convincing. He then sent the finalized site plan you see - prepared by the engineering firm and asked that the cul-de-sac also be included. This led me to consider whether it would make more sense to build the entire site in Chief Architect, with all units modeled and shown in 3D renderings. I’m now trying to determine the cost of doing this, and if it’s feasible, I would request the DWG files to proceed. Hope this long winded response answers your question lol Levina I'm in Canada too!!

Thanks everyone for your help. I have one last question—if anyone has worked on a subdivision or a multi-home project, do you have a general ballpark figure I could provide to a client for reproducing this?

SO what's the story on "PEOPLE " silhouettes. looks like there have been a few additives - one of a couple actually looks like it could be something real but it is a line drawing.. what purpose do these serve as they are not viewed in 3D I know I can get some people from this site .https://renderpeople.com/free-3d-people/ but what format do I use to download for ca. I would have thought that CA would have usable people other than silhouettes in their catalogues
