Joe is a hero of today thanks. but about this last blank layer. Don't you all have this last layer? I have opened Chiefs default template planM and its there as well. No matter what wall I choose or what template its always there. Even when creating new wall it's automatically placed. Can someone of you send me a plan where you don't have this blank layer?
-
That's what I thought. I would like it to be more automatic. So you don't need to include the frame - rough opening should be a gap between framed door and a wall frame, not door panel. Thank you all for your help
-
Joe, there is a jamb, its 45mm, but framing is going on top of it all the way to the door itself. Please check the plan. The only solution I see is to set 55mm for each side in rough opening dialog- this will include jamb (45mm) and a gap (10mm) for framing. Untitled 6.plan

Andy, selecting wall on interior part or exterior part makes no difference. Joe - I send you my screenshots. The first with diamond on interior side is my default plan and second in Chiefs default template planM. I also attached my plan here. Untitled 6.plan

Hi Joe , main layer got nothing to do with it. Moving layers up/down don't do much. The diamond still sits at the bottom. I'm on X7.
-
you're right. Roof helps.
-
Hi all, silly question, but can not remember where do you control this diamond placement. You see on first screenshot is at the bottom (interior layer) and second is on the exterior of the main layer. Where do you change this ?

Have this strange situation with door dimensions or maybe it is normal: Door width is 780mm, jamb is 45mm and rough opening is 10mm (I assume this means clean space - a gap from door frame when installing it, right?). But rough opening seems to be measured from door width - 780mm, not jamb (we call it door frame). Do I need to add jamb width+empty space in rough opening - If I want to have a gap of 10mm - I need to enter 55 (jamb plus gap)? Please explain me, maybe I miss something or it should be this way, if so I need some explanation.

Not in mac... Have forwarded this to support team, they managed to send me my library back, in a large messy list. This is second time I have this problem, so best now is to back up regularly will try to reinstall core library, reinstall chief and hope this won't happen again. Thanks for tips.

No there was no roof in this render, will try to construct one. Thanks.

Hey pros Can anyone explain me why I get those lights on ceiling when raytracing? I have attached my ray trace configuration as well. Thanks.
-
Joe, must disagree with you. Most cabinet makers will make any cabinet you give them. And they definitely won't make filler like this? No one wants 346mm filler Cabinet makers would make these angles with no problem (at least our do)

Autoupdate Raytraced Images In Layout Is Working!
simonas replied to simonas's topic in General Q & A
You're right Arthur. But in order to do it automatically we need to check "save file as image" in the render configuration, and in order to have separate images, we need to create separate render configurations for every camera you're going to use for ray tracing. This might sound complicated but its not. The only extra step is before hitting ray trace button I choose appropriate configuration for that camera (easiest is to save configuration same name as the camera). -
Just came up with an idea how to have "autoupdatable" 3d renders in the layout. Has anyone done this before? If so let me know how you do this. I will give you step-by-step - tomorrow. It's 1:40am here in Norway

Is it possible to make tall cabinet if you have an angled wall like this one in the screenshot?Don't know how and why, but most of my projects come with these damn corners.
-
Thanks Larry, you're right! It works nicely. Start all renders and leave them overnight. In the morning you have all ray traces done sweet!
-
But is it possible to leave more renders in queue so when one is finished another starts automatically?
-
Hey pros, I know you guys leave ray tracing your renders overnight. My question: Is it possible to raytrace more than one render and leave them all overnight. So in the morning all your images done are nicely saved in the folder? Thanks!
-
from now on will keep that in mind. anyone had this problem? it's second time for me!
-
no luck. it imports empty only new items i have added just now, but not my old library
-
Was messing around with template. checking library items and my free space on hard drive gone to zero. Had to switch all off, restart machine. Got my space back, but after opening chief my user catalog is empty! When searching I can find my items, but they are not in the folder. I had this problem before, but can not remember how I've fixed that. Any tips?

Sorry, what is your question? you select object, enter dimension, select any of these two functions and hit enter.

Is it possible to make a hole in the ceiling for a recessed light. I have lights like this one here and its recessed - I mean it's inside the ceiling with actual hole up in the ceiling. Chief do not cut for me. Anyone know any trick for this?

There is a bug. Not sure if its mac only. I use Mac version. In Interior trim there is no sq.m. for wall covering when you choose "Calculate Materials for Room". It goes work however when you select "Calculate from Area". Can anyone with mac confirm this? So I asume the easiest way is now to cut walls, so every room has its own wall, then apply wall covering to every wall separately. This is nightmare... shame. I wish Material Painter had an option "Apply as wall covering" for single wall and all walls in the room... or something like that.. Please Chief!
