  1. Hmmmm, beats me, it shows here on my screen.
  2. This plan has several exterior doors with transoms above. I can only mull one door/transom unit. The others will not mull. On Elevation 3 and on the 1st Floor Plan View Help is greatly needed and even more appreciated. The plan is attached in a zip file. Thanks in advance, Lane Glynwood Chicken Coop Plan File.zip
  3. I get the same thing. It is a royal pia removing each one. Lane
  4. I import .dwg a lot for my work, mostly from surveyors, sometimes from engineers, lots of times for both. I always map to a single Chief layer so when I look at it I see everything; angle, distance, buildings, septics, street lines etc. Then I go through and highlight things I dont need and put them on a "garbage" layer. Now I am left with a clean drawing that I can modify as needed. The problem is that almost always if it is a house drawing, everything needs to be redrawn or drawn over. Engineering and surveys are easy, house plans seem to be the most time consuming. I have never tried the CAD to Walls tool, so I can't comment on that.
  5. Hello, My problem today is mulling a door and a transom. Two of these units (the two on the left in the screenshot) mull without an issue. But the two on the right won't allow me to mull them. Is there a limit to the number of mulled units in a plan? Thanks in advance, Lane
  6. Thanks! I almost got it, the cross section shows the roof correctly now. Any idea on those stray lines in Shed 2?
  7. My problem is this building has roof planes that will not build on top of the wall plates. The section view shows the height of the wall plates I want the roof to build on. It also shows some stray lines and I have no idea what layer they are on or where they came from. The section view is a screen shot. The plan is zipped and attached. The middle part of the building will be getting a shed roof. The rear wall of the building has a 6'7" plate height. The end part of the building has an 8' plate height. I cannot get the roofs to build on top of either of these walls. The roof planes build on who knows what and are higher than the wall plates. 8. Hello, Does anyone know of a symbol for a barber shop chair? Thanks Lane
  9. Whenever I send a CAD detail to the layout sheet from the plan file, a border box surrounds the actual CAD detail. This makes lining up the CAD boxes a time consuming chore, since the border box does not appear on all CAD details. I have attached a screenshot. Am I doing something wrong when I export the CAD details, or is there a setting somewhere I need to look at? Unfortunately the resolution of the screen shot is not that great, but if you look at the partial box above, and the one below, those CAD details show the single border. The one that says "Permits" has the double box. Thanks in advance Lane
  10. Thanks. I was hoping, in this computerized world I could simply click it and find it. Oh well, X250 may have it.
  11. I have created a layout file which I want to use as a template for future layouts. When I open this layout file, I get a "Warning # 272012024 One or more layout boxes in this layout are linked to a Cad detail, but cannot find the CAD detail in the linked plan." How do I find which is the missing CAD detail in the layout? Thanks, Lane
  12. Ah, another work around. My workaround book is getting so full, the solutions should be made part of the program. Thanks!
  13. Chris, I don't want soffits. The roof decking should be visible from below. Chief must be programmed to look for soffits even when they don't exist?
  14. I used Softplan a couple of years ago. I thought the biggest plus was the support...free, unlimited phone support plus the techs would download your file, fix what was wrong, and send it back with an explanation if they could not walk you through it on the phone. But, the CAD part of the software was very primitive. Comparing the CAD aspects of Softplan v Chief, Chief was hands down the winner. My next look into will be Revit Lt. Or maybe just retire.
  15. It probably is for me. There has to be a better software program than Chief, and I have been using it and probably making the same errors since 1998.
  16. Here is a different plan, but with the same issue. Mohican.zip
  17. Here is a screenshot showing an elevation view of the gable end of this building. The siding does not cover the rafters or extend to the roof. The rafters align with the exterior of the framed wall. I must have a setting set incorrectly somewhere, but I don't know which one it would be. My next question is whether Layer Sets can be exported from one plan to another. Thanks, Lane
  18. Good morning, I have attached a plan file; I cannot get the attic walls or the basement floor to generate. I placed a 3d polyline in the basement to show a slab, but I cannot do anything like that to show the attic walls. Curiously enough, the Attic Walls generate above the two decks. Thanks in advance, Lane Cozy Cabin Plan File.zip
  19. Good morning fellow Chief users, does Chief have a method of reporting error messages, like a support email? I got this this morning: Thanks in advance, Lane
  20. Since this happens to multiple users, I think we can rule out user error or user machine error. I was able to shut the program down, then copied my old toolbar folder and pasted it into the X17 Folder. Chief should address this as I think it is a program error.
  21. This error message popped up: Cannot load side panels My library browser was gone. I shut down the program and computer, then restarted both. After re-starting, my library browser was back, but my customized toolbar was gone. I could open the other toolbars, but not the one I always use. How do I get my tool bar back? Thanks in advance, Lane
