  1. I am attaching a plan where my footings are all solid lines, even though they are dashed lines in the specifications box. How do I change them to dashed lines? Also, can a footing, independent of the wall it supports be re-configured. I want to create an extension of the main footing which will support a concrete pier for a deck. I will place the pier manually. Alternately, can I create a pilaster on the exterior of the foundation where the top of the pilaster is "x" inches below the main foundation wall? It can be seen on the foundation plan view in the front deck area. Thanks in advance. Lane Wood Street Putnam Valley PLAN.zip
  2. Thanks! That was a lot less painful than I thought it would be.
  3. Hello Again Is there (there has to be, Chief is a CAD Drafting program) a dialog box or other way of accurately spacing porch posts, when none of the posts will be equally spaced apart? Thanks in advance, Lane
  4. That's what I want to do. the RO is the actual door size. But chief wants to add an extra 1/2"
  5. In the template plan I am setting up, I have the Default 1st and 2nd floor joists set @ 9-1/2", both with a 3/4" Sub-Floor. The ceiling height for both floors is set @ 97-1/8", so the total rise, 1st to 2nd floor is 107-3/8". In the Stair Default dialog box, the stair height is set at 121-1/2", and apparently this cannot be changed in the stair dialog box. So, how do I change the stair default height to 97-1/8". Next, in the Default settings for garage doors, the Rough Opening should be the same as the door size, but the program adds a "minimum" for the rough opening. How do I eliminate the additional space so the rough opening size is the actual door size? Thanks in advance, Lane
  6. The text size is correct, but the circle around the text needs to be smaller.
  7. My electrical labels somehow changed their size for the 2nd floor layout. The 1st and 2nd floors did not change. So now I need to change the label size for the electrical labels. Where is the magic button to do this? Thanks in advance. Lane
  8. This mornings agita is two fold. 1. How do I stop dimensions from changing size when I zoom in and zoom out? 2. How do I get labels to show for doors in an elevation view? The window labels populate, but not the door labels. Everything checked for the windows is checked for the doors. The plan file is attached. Look at either Elevation 1 or Front Elevation Thanks, Lane Apollino Proposed Plan.zip
  9. Where do I find the dialog box to change the size of the roof plane pitch and arrow labels? Thanks. Lane
  10. I want to create a bay window in this foundation. The problem is I cannot maintain the wall lengths when I go to connect the walls. I have attached a screen shot of what I have to work with and what I want to to is this: Walls 1 & 2 are to maintain their position, angle, and length. Move wall 3, so point B of Wall 3 Connects to Point A of Wall 1 without changing the length of either Wall 1 or Wall 3. Move Wall 4 so point D of Wall 4 connects to Point C of Wall 2 without changing the length of either wall 2 or wall 4. Move and adjust the length of Wall 5 so point G connects to Point E and Point H connects to Point F. (points being the corners of the walls) Thanks in advance. Lane
  11. I typed in mucho notes. Some which go with all plans, some for plans in particular jurisdictions who want to see specific notes for their department. Some for Energy Code, some for Stretch Energy Code, some because one architect (who stamps the plans) wants them, some because one Engingger (who stamps the plans) wants them....its a process.
  12. Thanks a million for posting this. I have framed probably 500 homes and been using Chief since the late 90's and never knew the subfloor was not part of framing. As for the wall heights, resetting them and then changing the ceiling heights in each room did the trick.
  13. I drew a roof plane, then before I finished the roof I looked at it in 3D and for some reason it is not building over the top of the wall. Anyone know what I am doing wrong? The file is attached. Thanks, Lane Apollino Proposed Plan.zip
  14. The goal is to show both the stairs from the first floor to the second floor, and from the second floor to the loft in plan view. Lane
  15. Is there a way to show (plan view) stairs on the second floor and first floor at the same time? Thanks, Lane
