Hello Again, I installed X18 and hoped the good folks that do the programming would have made Window Labels Orientation set by the user. But, even though there is a setting for the angle of the labels in the Windows Dialogue panel, changing the label angle doesn't do anything. I want the Window Labels paralles to the width of the windows. Or, am I not using it correctly?

Hello again, I suppose I should have paid more attention when I started using Chief back in (I think) 1998. I have multiple lines where the ends touch each other. I would like to connect them so they make a closed polyline. I have the "connect cad segments" box checked, but after I select them all, they just don't want to join up with each other. Can this be done or am I misundersting the definition of "connect CAD segments"? Thanks in advance, Lane

No matter what I do, I cannot get the default layer set to be anything but the "Light and Ventilation" Layer set. I have changed it in the plan views so the plan set is the default set, but the Light and Ventilation always pops back up. Here is the screenshot, and the plan is attached. How do I fix this? Here is a screenshot of my problem. It appears an additional foundation slab and walls are generating below the foundation. The door drops down the the 2nd foundation floor. Upstairs the absolute floor elevation is 16", because this floor sits 16" above the main existing floor. It appears the upstairs heights are set correctly, but the foundation level is a real problem. Hello, I need a little help with two things. 1. How do I get the long vertical extension of the retaining wall to go only the top of the retaiing wall? (long vertical oval). 2. I want to change the height of the Porch Railings. Currently they are 31" above the Deck Surface. The Deck Surface is 5" below the Sub-Floor. It appears the deck railings are referencing the Sub-Floor instead of the Deck Surface. In the dialog box, the "Default Height" is checked and grayed out so I can't make a change. Today's problem is getting windows to mull. In the attached screenshot, the windows are not mulled; I keep getting an error message saying they need to be within 24" and aligned vertically and horizontally, which they are. So I aligned all of them, then added the 3" casing. The trouble is the casing is applied horizontally between the windows. How can I remove that casing and keep the perimeter casings? I have no idea where the red lines in the screenshot came from. Thanks, Lane

i changed some foor heights, and the result is almost there, but I still have (I think it;s the floor) sticking through the roof. Now I need also to figure out the dormer I added. I can't attach the file because it wont zip down to under 14 bytes. thanks just the same, I'll keep plaing with it. --Lane

I have the 2nd floor floor set to 1/8", so I don't know why the walls are projecting through the roof. Thanks in advance for your help. --Lane

I ended up downloading two other plans that this plan used. Then everything populated. Now I know.

When I drew a plan and did a "save as" it was my intention to use that plan as a template, because it had pages and pages of boilerplate notes, sections, and 2025 Code Notes. I also did a "save as" for a layout file that had all of the notes, etc. on different sheets. It was my intention to use that as a Layout template. My thought was open the plan file, use "save as" in a New Folder and also use a "save as" for the layout in the new folder. That seemed logical and straightforward to me. Since all of my files are kept in Dropbox, they naturally got uploaded automatically. However, when opened the files from Dropbox on a different computer, half of the CAD files were missing. What gives? Is it just me or does anyone else have problems with file management in Chief?

This morning I opened a plan I finished about two weeks ago. The client called with some revisions. Now, when I try to click on an object the room opens up. I attached a screen shot. What I want to do is click on the dashed lines (interior footing), but the room opens instead and there seems to be no way to click on the footing. "Relief is greatly wanted."
