Where are these in the libraries? I have been looking and striking out.
Everybody wants a 75 inch TV on the wall or standing on a wide console, so how is it best done and where are the images of golfing, basketball games, football games, shark week, whatever?
I have done it before building a solid with surround frame, snipping images from the web for the screen, but doesn't Chief have these in some library somewhere?
You can use material painter to place artwork; photos, paintings, etc. on the TVs in the library. Works well ,leaving the bezel not painted, just paints the screen

Thank you, I described that incorrectly, I'm looking for a 3'0" 6'8" exterior door for a garage that has just three lights at the top. I was able to download the ThermaTru door and going through that now.
There is a 3 light at the top exterior door in the library.

Is there a way to put door swing LH or RH in door label, Text Macro format? Is there a list of Text Macro available to view?
Robert,
Good one thanks. I left the default label and added the last part of your formula %hinge_side%H
only to keep the standard size call out with swing now added

Hi All
Just starting with Pro 2020
Drawn most of house with gable roof with gables at front and back. need to add 4 -season porch with "half gable" roof, not sure what correct name is, but it's perpendicular to other roof (see attached image). Can't figure out how to do it.
I need to set the height of the porch walls (can;t figure that out either) and then need to root to intersect with the wall.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
My plan is attached.Plan1.plan
Thanks
Mark
Change the side walls of the porch to High Shed/Gable Walls
Set the ceiling height by opening the room dialogue box
At least that the way in Chief not sure about HDPro

I have created a roof vent which I want to convert to a symbol that sits on the roof. Hopefully the symbol will automatically follow the roof pitch. I have tried converting my object to an external fixture, exterior furnishing, millwork and Geometeric shape symbol in the hope that I get an option to place on the roof; but alas I cannot find such an option. I have a vague idea I was able to do this years ago on an earlier version.
The product is an E-vent. I think this is only manufactured in Western Australia. see https://cmiwa.com.au/e-vent/. The company does not produce a 3D symbol, but I have made a reasonable replica. Generally the event it design for a ridge, as shown on the website and therefore positioned in a level plane, but when fixed on a skillon roof the vent length run follows the pitch. That is the standard 1500 long vent follows the run of the roof sheet.
Can Chief produce such a symbol, that adjusts to the roof pitch?.
Have you followed the procedure for making a symbol in a 3D view ?
(Which is, delete every thing using delete surface tool, except what you want the symbol to be, then convert)
I think you would have to make one for each desired pitch.
Sometimes I make a simple example of my building with the object
I want to make into a symbol to simplify reducing faces to just what I need.

There is one in SketchUp's 3D Warehouse.
Download the model to desktop, and drag into plan,
You can add it to your User's Library

No way to so far as I can tell, other than choosing upper or lower case letters,
which is not what you are wanting I know.

The point to be made is that once you tilt a polyline solid, the only way you can move it and keep it's elevation the same is by using the transform/replicate dialog command.
If I right click / hold to move, in the elevation view, it works like I'm thinking you want it to

Is there anyway that Chief Architect can make a van/camper or rv, HOME DESIGN? With all of the different type of catalogs to buy and download that the campers need? https://youtu.be/UwdeoKIWC3Y But not like this<you guys are way better then this!
I looked at VANSPACE3D and it looks like a pretty good value at 19$ for one year access.
You would have to trick CA, which needs a room with walls and ceilings etc, to place objects (make invisible walls and place a van symbol
over every thing). Just guessing.

Thanks!
Easiest way is to download to desktop, then drag into open plan.
Add to library if desired.

Can anyone tell me why I can't select any walls in 3D view in the attached file? Whenever I try to select a wall, it will only select the room.
I just tried your plan, and was able to open wall using tab key when select opened room first
Worked in both full camera and perspective full overview

Thanks for the response Rene. A couple of examples that I am bumping into right away on my first Chief project:
1. In 2D---How would you ACCURATELY draw a custom molding profile from scratch with a lot of shapes (similar to the CA-75 profile that comes in the Cheif Library) that could be dimensioned as a detail and given to the millwork shop?
2. In 3D---I have fluted decorative column that sits on a trimmed out half wall that I need to create in 3D? (See attached photo) I can measure the physical column, but struggle to accurately model it in Chief.
Whats cool is that you can import SketchUp models into Chief.
Just download to your desktop and drag into open plan.
You can save them to your User Library too.
So if your good with SU, you may still model there for now.
I realize these examples are not exactly what you need, but...
Some fluted columns at SketchUps 3DWarehouse

SketchUp's 3D Warehouse has many.
Download a model to your desktop, and drag it into
an open plan.
Here is one example

Chief didn't do much to promote this feature but here are a couple of videos going over the basics.
https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/2421/saved-plan-views.html
https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/2433/developing-saved-plan-views.html?playlist=84
Eric, at 00:45 seconds into the first linked video, the instructor shows that "when you open a new plan with the out of the box default template, there are several saved plan views already integrated into the plan". I cannot find the template she is referring to. Where might that be ?
thanks, J

Have to add it to you toolbar yourself via Customize Toolbars or assign a hotkey. The tool is still there, just been devalued and removed from the dropdown. I’m guessing it will remain as a sort of Legacy feature so that old plans continue to work, but that it will otherwise be left to slowly decompose until it’s only the stuff of legend.
Or, morphing into the TV showing yule log all day with Christmas music playing all day.
How bout a symbol for that one ?

Well finally bought x11, and notice the first thing I try to do is dual dimensioning, and the instructions are terrible, help, please.
Interesting, I am not familiar with that function (showing secondary units of measurement in single dimension line )
Now I know.
May I ask why you are needing to have this show in a plan ?
So the plan could work on more than one country ?

There can be a difference between using the X key (Resize Edit Mode) and the C key (Concentric Edit Mode), depending on the shape of the original object - especially for a rectangle.
For the X key • Resize/Reshape - Resize allows you to keep the angle between adjacent edges fixed when a corner handle is moved.
For a rectangle, this will maintain the same proportions as the original object.
For the C key • Resize/Reshape - Concentric allows you to resize an irregularly-shaped polyline so that each edge is moved the same distance from its original location.
For a rectangle, this will move all edges the same distance from the original.
Have a look at the diagrams in the help file to see the different behaviors.
If you have assigned any keyboard shortcuts starting with C or X, this will preclude these shortcuts from being used as Edit Behavior shortcuts.
thanks, always good to get back to basics.

If holding the "X" key down as you left click and drag the corner handle doesn't work Holding down the "C" and doing the same function should work. At least it is the "C" on my machine.
Never noticed that C key also lets you resize. Differently, but works too.
X seems more dynamic.

Because this type of outlet is usually under a kitchen sink, powering the garbage disposal, and because
the power cords you have to buy and attach to a garbage disposal often have one of those right angle
plugs with the cord coming out the bottom, it is best to have the switched half be on the bottom.
Otherwise the cord may occlude the bottom ( if the plug has to go in the top.) You need the always on
half available for the DW
My 2 cents

How do you resize a camera view once it is sent to a layout? In X9, you could simply use the corner grab. In Chief X11 when I try to use the corner grab it skews the camera view. I do not want to send it as a JPEG because I still want to be able to update on demand.
I know that you can go to the transform - image size to resize, but there has to be an easier, faster way. Any ideas?
Thanks
Hold down the X key as you grab and drag corner
