That is actually more time consuming than the line specification DBX which has all 4 of those in 1 place. admittedly in Acad they are normaly readily available and you can select the line then select which ever parameter you wish to change.

  2. As you can see there are may ways to do con docs.

I use a plan file for each std detail then link them to the layout. I put all text on the various plan files before sending to layout.

My layout template is already loaded with the details i use on most jobs, I just delete those that do not apply or relink to a similar detail if say I use a deep footing instead of a std or similar. Or link in the other details that always change such as cladding flashing details.

The only thing that is added to the layouts directly is the revision balloons as they only show what is changed from the previous version.

  3. I have used CA since v6, I used ACAD , solidworks, Atuodesk mechanical and a few others prior to that.

I find CA will do 98% of what i want to do, Then I go back to  other programmes .

I do not expect any professional to have only 1 tool in the tool box. have you seen a builder try to build a house with a single tool??

For the first few years I used to model in CA then do con docs in ACAD as I had full control over every line, then about X2 I realised thaat CA was able to achieve most of what was needed at the time.

Con docs have improved over the last few releases.
