I designed a house for a client in Wilmington NC. He is asking for me to find a designer/builder in the Asheville NC area for his elderly sister who wants to build an addition. He would prefer someone on-site so that they can walk her through the design-build process. Is there anyone near Asheville NC? Specifically, she is in Sylva NC. Send me a message or email direct to me. selahdesignservices@outlook.com Thanks

CABINET SCHEDULE & ACTUAL CABINET HEIGHT
ChiefChris1 replied to ChiefChris1's topic in General Q & A
Is that in x10? I'm not working in X10 for this project. this one is in X8. -
I wonder if there is a way to have the schedule tool determine the actual height of the cabinet and NOT include the counter top. Sure, I can remove the counters from my base cabs and manually model a counter-top...At least, I assume that would show the base cabs at 34 1/2" high in the schedule. I can also separate base cabinets into one schedule. wall cabinets in another etc and specify which height is labeled on the schedule (including counter top). Can I just tell the schedule tool to NOT include the counter top?? because 36" is not the cabinet height.
-
I meant, I have never had to do this with cabinets.
-
Oh...gees... I found it. I have to check "other" to include the blocks in the schedule. There's an hour I'll never get back
-
And, if I build them separately and block them, for whatever reason, I'm struggling to get it to list in the cabinet schedule at all.
-
That's what I'm having trouble with....assigning glass to the top doors only. I can make the cabinet with the doors - but assigning two materials to the door panels isn't working for me. Materials are listed as "brite" and "glass" in the materials tab. But only showing glass (as assigned on one of the doors).
-
I can't figure out what you did. Did you create two cabinets and then block them together? is that one cabinet with two door styles assigned?
-
How would you go about building a kitchen cabinet that is a single cabinet with different door styles that shows up in the cabinet schedule. for example. A wall cabinet. Total height is 60". The top has a 16 1/2" door with glass. The lower has a 39" door - wood. Same door style, different materials. I can make them separate cabinets in plan, but that doesn't list them correctly in the schedule. I can block them together, but then it doesn't show in the cabinet schedule because it's a block and not a cabinet.
-
so...I built the door in another plan, blocked it, and copy/pasted into the plan I'm working on.
-
I just did it in another plan....blocked the door with the sidelights...and then blocked the transom overhead. It worked. But, it doesn't work in the plan I'm working on. I start with the same default drawing.
-
Did the door with the transom first.. Then I select either one...or both of the sides and get the 24" error message.
-
Same problem AGAIN... Except this time, it's with a door, 2 sidelights, and a transom over all three. I block the sides and door together. Then try to block the transom...NO GO. Same error message, saying I can't block a non-flat top opening. I try blocking a side light with the transom first...that works, then blocking the door and the other sidelight and it tells me I can't block something more than 24" apart. In all my decades of using Chief, this has never been a problem. I don't understand. Legacy Hummelstown Porch AS BUILT.plan

I have a friend who is renovating an old factory building in Michigan. They have prints done, but they need someone to do a plumbing schematic and riser diagrams. Close to Manistee, Michigan would be best.. Contact me via email: selahdesignservices@outlook.com

I have always done the three horizontal first then the vertical and never had any trouble with it until now. I'd be interested to know why.
-
So, I blocked 3 panels vertically first, then blocked 3 panels horizontally...now it's all blocked together. I was blocking 3 horizontal first then 2 vertical and that's when I get the error.

Thanks. But, the "solution" in there was to make sure that the actual tops are all the same. The door and the windows are all at 80" The exterior casing is 4 1/2" on both the door and the windows. the interior casing is 2 1/4" CA-03 with 5/8" reveal & overlap on both the windows and the door no lintels I can't figure out what is making the bottom opening a "not flat top" opening. sample.plan

I've gotten this error message once before. It doesn't make any sense to me. I'm adding a transom over a door and I want to block them together. The sidelights are blocked. The windows overtop are blocked. But it won't let me block top to bottom. I'm doing this the same way I've done it for 20 years. This bugs me. What is an opening with a non-flat top??

I am looking for span tables for FIRE RATED LUMBER. Specifically floor joists. I have a clear-span of 17'10 3/8" We want to span that with fire rated lumber. (AFL?) I need the dimensions of the lumber for my section/elevation dimensions. Does anyone have a reference?

Well....for crying out loud. HOW LONG have we been able to drag schedule items up or down?? How many releases ago did THAT feature happen? That's pretty stinkin awesome...I am hoping this is a new feature, because if it's not I am going to kick myself for the last 6+ years of scheduling. Thanks Mike and Mark

I bet this has been discussed quite a bit....but it not, here goes. HOW does CA order the items in a schedule?? And, is there a way to reset the schedule numbers so they make sense on the plan? I don't want to do the schedule - to - text function because then the doors/windows etc aren't linked to the schedule anymore and do not update if they are changed. But, how do the number/labels on the schedule generate in reference to the plan? Most recently, door #1 is on floor #2, then door #2 is on 1st floor...and it just jumps all over. I see no reason or apparent function as to which items are numbered in which order when using the schedule tools .

I have a client who has X7 and X6. I still have been using X6. I created a model for them in X6 and when they opened it in X7 the roofs were not displaying in their 3D view. I am not there with them, so I can't see what they might have done - but does anyone have any ideas why the roof did not display?
