  1. Michael, Actually I am using Premier X8. We downloaded the Home Designer version to see if my wife could use that to work up material lists and pricing once the design is finished in Premier. Larry thanks for clarifying that process. Should work for me. Now if I could just find where I changed the default to make the framing generate in white. Sheesh.

  3. I don't have any ceilings. All rooms are vaulted and ceilings are unchecked in each room. Is there a default that is an over ride?
  4. so I changed all roof member defaults to 11 1/4. Below are the results. Why do they keep changing back to 5 1/4"
  5. Gracious no. My intricate roof lines have never worked with anything auto.
  6. We typically don't frame with 2x6 rafters here. Am looking to change these porch rafters to 2x12 and seem to be going around in circles with default dialogs. I have gone into roof defaults and changed all roof size member depth to 11 1/4. It has no affect. Am i missing something. Is there a super default override? Also we want the gables and eaves to be 2x12. thanks.
  7. Hey guys,Have been swamped and just getting back to this. Watched the videos and for me they were helpful in the way that it is clear that sometimes a manual work around may be the way to go. Tanks for the effort putting these together. Great to have the support here. BTW the original Scottish correct spelling was Bearse and it got "corrected" during immigration.
  8. Got it. Here we call that a thickened slab. You guys are in the frost free zone and can use shallow footings. We have minimum 24" frost depth so we typically do stem walls.
  9. Thats a new one for me. What is a scoop / shovel footing? Also here in Oregon the energy code requires slab edge to be insulated so placing on footing becomes problematic.
  10. Perfect! Any idea what you did from your previous post?
  11. I don't know what happened to stemwalls. Most baffling. Note familiar what structure DBX. Am wondering if I should delete and rebuild.
  12. Hi chopsaw, thanks, tried it but am now getting the below.
  13. here is the plan if anyone would have any ideas. Hightower.plan
  14. Late in the game and we have decided to convert a joist floor system on stemwalls over a crawlspace to stemwalls with an insulated slab on grade. Going to keep me busy a bit this weekend. Here in Oregon we typically run the top of slab flush with top of stemwall similar to the garage room. Am looking for the best steps to take to revise this efficiently. The Garage room does this correctly but am not liking the idea of manually changing each room. I went in to defaults for floor 0 and set floor to be flush with top of stemwall and then the stemwalls disappear. about to give up and draw everything manually.
  15. Sorry for the confusion. I was looking for a simple horizontal beam . Ceiling beam did the trick. Looks like the roof beam is designed to follow the roof slope if placed perpendicular to roof base line.Seems like there should be an override.
  16. rafter or floor ceiling beam. Duh thanks!
  17. Am placing simple roof beams and they seem to follow the slope of the roof plane. I can find no way to place a simple horizontal beam.
  18. I guess more specifically I placed a section view on a layout however the camera shows a reference that references nothing other than the view name. And on the layout the section label only shows the name. How do I get the camera callout to reference to the detail and layout and the detail on the layout to display a label that the camera refers to?
  19. When I place a section on a layout I am struggling with how to get the section callout to display.the section name or number.Seems like there should be a way to associate a detail to the callout. Is this a maco only solution or is there an object somewhere that I am missing?
  20. Newbie here, Picked up a new technique here with the scale on the plan rather than in layout box. Question is where did you get that reference label? Have been trying to figure out how to reference details and sections. Is that a library object?
  21. Am looking for the downspouts you mentioned. Oddly missing and no discussions. Can you point me in the right direction?
  22. Change floor reference. Another simple undiscovered tool. thanks!
  23. I like to show reference display on my plan layouts so that contractors have a reference to the floor below. However as sen in the attachment, I would like to hide the reference display under the second floor rooms. Have tried a polyline fill, room fill and have yet to find a solution. Any suggestions?
  24. So now a new thing am I able to export to older versions of CA? My builder has not updated.
