And all this time I have been concerned with whether it is Grey Poupon or Gray Poupon...

Bob, have you tried using a finished layout to generate your saved plan views?

David,
I love this idea. It could be a part of the "Defaults". Since SPV's use the "Defaults" (formerly "Annosets" or "Active Defaults") this would be a great addition to the "Defaults" and therefore automatically SPVs.
Please make this request via a support request or use the Beta reporting tool. I will do likewise.
Will do, Boss!

Again, this video is more of a sales pitch for Saved Plan Views than it is anything even remotely resembling a how to video.
Sounds like some are thinking this new tool is harder to implement and use than it really is.
Think of it as a quicker, easier way of doing what you have already been doing.

One more thing I think would help in productivity should be the ability to link a toolbar setup to certain SPV's. ie. Plot Plan View opens your Terrain Configuration Toolbar, the Electrical SPV opens your MEP Configuration, Kitchen SPV opens the Kitchen and Bath Design Toolbar Configuration. etc.

Here’s a short video from Chief on SPV’s done 3 weeks ago:

Can you imagine not having to send a drawing to your layout again... because your layout template is tied to your saved plan views? You work on your 3D model while CA does the tedious work automatically.
-
An easy way to set up your saved plan views is to open a finished layout from a previous project and go to each view on that layout that was sent from your plan and save it as a new saved plan view. Then, all your settings are what you want. Then import your "new" saved plan views into your new plan, and save it to your plan template.

No, I would never go back to not using saved plan views.

I would be interested in how you got that material list from Chief?
I wish Chief could do takeoffs like this. The OP asked for a software
Quotebut to have the take off materials along with the data from ProEst on labor or subcontractors, and other incidentals such as supervision, permits, rental, fixtures allowances, cleanup, insurance, porta john, overhead etc. all to be calculated as the drawing progresses or changes, would be outstanding in the design build custom arena.
Does anyone have thoughts about this or possible software that will do this?
This was generated in my other CAD program.

Looks good!
Maybe adjust the damper a little to get a cleaner burning fire.

Are you looking for saved plan views?

Steve's shower door looks a lot like the shower door used in the core library item called "Tub-Shower 5"? Is there a difference?

Is this what you are looking for?

Have you thought about having a base set needed to get a permit for a set price, then giving your customer the option of requesting additional sheets, ie, interiors, landscaping, etc, for an additional fee?
-
Have you tried the control key?
-
Not sure if this is what you needed but...
Have you tried CAD>Plan Footprint?
Plot Plans and Plan Footprints
Using the CAD Tools and conventional survey information, you can create an accurate plot plan in plan view or a CAD Detail. See Site Plans Tutorial.
A plot plan can be sent to layout and included in working drawings. See Dynamic Views.
A plot plan can also be converted into a terrain perimeter, allowing you to add elevation data and accurately position buildings for 3D modeling of home and lot.
Plan Footprint
Select CAD> Plan Footprint to create a CAD object representing the building footprint in a CAD Detail window. Once the Plan Footprint is created, you can control what information it displays.
To create a Plan Footprint
1. Open the plan view that you want to create a Plan Footprint from.
2. Select CAD> Plan Footprint . The program creates a new CAD Detail with the footprint of the current floor.
• By default, this new CAD Detail uses the Plan Footprint layer set. You can control what displays in the footprint using the Layer Display Options dialog. See Layer Sets.
• You can also control the appearance of a Plan Footprint in its specification dialog. See Plan Footprint Specification Dialog.
To insert a plan footprint in a CAD Detail
1. Open the CAD Detail in which you want to insert a Plan Footprint.
2. Select CAD> Plan Footprint .
3. Select the floor to use from the drop-down list and click OK.
4. The floor plan appears in the CAD Detail window. Select Window> Fill Window to center the footprint on screen.
5. The footprint can be rotated and moved anywhere in the window.
If the model consists of several buildings, a footprint is created for each. Moving one footprint automatically adjusts all the footprints in order to maintain their relationship.
If you edit a plan using Reverse Plan or the Edit Area tools, the plan footprint updates automatically.
Dimension lines can be drawn to locate the edges of a plan footprint polyline. Note that if changes to the plan cause the plan footprint polyline to update, any dimension lines that locate it may be deleted as a result. See Dimensions.
Layer Display Options
When you create a plan footprint by selecting CAD> Plan Footprint while in plan view, the default layer set for Plan Footprints is used. See Layer Set Defaults.
When a plan footprint is created by selecting CAD> Plan Footprint while in a CAD Detail, the current layer set is used. See Layer Set Management.
Regardless of the layer set in use, the appearance of objects in a Plan Footprint is controlled in the Layer Display Options dialog. Individual objects are on the same layer as in plan view, while the entire Plan Footprint is on the “CAD, Default” layer. See Layer Display Options Dialog.Chief Architect X11

Maybe I'm too early on this subject. It's usually discussed in January.

What I did in the past with large print files was break it down into a smaller file size by printing a range of pages. ie. 1-5, 6-10, 11-15, etc.
