  1. From a construction viewpoint, when creating a planset, the designer must not lose sight of what is needed when the designer is trying to convey what the customer wants to the construction workers onsite without anyone having to decipher whether something is an 8, 5 or a 3.  That is why I like clear, easy to read fonts.

BTW, I have never heard a framer or roofer discussing the artistic appeal of the plans... ;-)

  2. It would be great if Chief could export directly into google earth.  I have had to do this for an apartment complex for preliminary concept approval.

I know SoftPlan allows you to export a 3D model directly into google earth.

I believe you can import the surrounding area into Twinmotion and Lumion???  That may be the easiest way for you to use your CA model for what I think you are wanting to do with your project.

  3. I have the HP T520 and can't complain...

before that I used an HP 450C.

Before that I had an HP 1055CM but I didn't use it enough to justify the cost of replacing the large ink jugs all the time when they dried up.

Before that I used an HP carousel pen plotter... that was fun to watch... you never knew where it was going to draw next on the paper.

  4. I'm suspecting a combination of the video card upgrade and the Chief upgrade... I am getting some bizarre 3D stuff going on.  And the program just shutdown AGAIN while working in 2D.

I am now working on a project in my other CAD program and I am not have any of these issues with the 3D renderings in that program but my screen did go blank when I did a quick animation and stayed blank until I clicked on the screen with my mouse, then the program came back???

Does anyone know of a quick and decent way to share a plan file with someone, while removing / locking all the proprietary information (other than saving a backup, then deleting almost everything)?

Have you tried edit area copying the plan from your proprietary file and paste it into the oob template that comes with CA?
