I don't know if this will help but I noticed mine x8 get a lot slower when I imported too many catalogs.

I was afraid of that (high cost(. I only know of one and that is Intericad. while I never found an exact price I did find hints of the $1,000's it would cost. I had my fingers crossed that having CA already would allow me to use a cheaper program. I just looked at Lumion. looks very good. lol I am learning that there is a lot to these programs.

is there a program I can use with CA x8 that will allow me to have walk throughs and having it look similar to the images I get with Ray Trace. thank you Tom

thank you . I ended up using the wall material regions tool. worked very simple. when I get a change I will look doing it with the wall elevation view. that way seems more difficult but may be more helpful when more do it yourself techniques are needed. thank you again.

I have been trying to find out how to make the bathroom tile go only half way up the wall . I will continue to try and find out how but if anyone wants to give me a few pointers or proper search terms that will help me. thank you Tom

yes, thank you. I believe that is the page I eventually found. I don't know a lot of the key terms so it took me a while but I found the path. .. thank you again.

changing the angle of the stairs. the way I found was to change the tread height. I first tried to change the riser height but for some reason (as far as I can tell )that is not selectable. So if you want to change the steepness of the stairs - one way is to change the tread height. I wish I can figure out a way to change the riser height. perhaps there are some tutorials out there.

I don't understand what happen. the plans I uploaded last night.. each had a little more progress than the one before. last one even had a terrace on level 1. as I progressed I saved the filed and uploaded it. I know it was a long hard day and I was very tired.. but this is weird. I know how to save files.

please understand that I am learning as I go. I don't mean to send up so many posts. but I figured out how to put the platform to the right ontop of the stairs. now I just need to learn how to exit the stairs to the right. I think I need to put room dividers on either the first floor or second floor and say if it needs a ceiling of floor. but before I do that I need to learn how to adjust the angle of the stairs. here is my updated plan. there should be a little platform with railing ontop of the stairs with an opening on the right. 120 5D.plan

still working on it.. more details on this one.

for staircase I did best fit and it helped but still needs to be steeper.

for some reason the option to attach files is only visible if I edit a post. but if I reply to someone. there is no option to attach files. will try picture. for some reason I cant get the plan uploaded.

im trying. I know i uploaded my first plan but for the life of me I forgot how I did it.

I need to make these stairs on a steeper angle so they don't block the door was in the middle of the room. i cant move the stairs back because of the wall that is there. also not sure how I am going to finish the stairs for exiting onto second floor to right of stairs. omg I need a rest already. I don't know how to upload a pic? I see my media tab but don't know how to upload to it.

i am having a hard time adjusting the angle of the stairs. at the angle it is now they are blocking the doorway to first floor bathroom and bedroom. I am going to attempt to post a screen shot. not sure how I am going to attached the stairs to 2nd floor.

will do. looks like I have the high ceilings where needed.
-
I built 2 floors and removed floor from rooms. thanks..
-
yes, this is what I need. livingroom is completely open on top. with stairs going up to second floor.
-
I did that for the kitchen and living room ( if that is what you meant). I ran into a problem with that. the normal height ceiling extends the whole width of the room for about 6 feet - part of that 6 feet is kitchen and part is livingroom. I would just label the whole area kitchen but then the kitchen floor tile will also extend too far. I will try to not label kitchen and manually put tile. I never did that before. thanks for letting me know im not heading off into the wrong direction all together. going to stay up all night if I have to. need to be able to show this tomorrow.

I am also going to show an option for a 3rd bedroom in the lvingroom with an 8 foot ceiling and then a large opening before. this is Manhattan, NY and the landlords love to try and get more rooms.

I am very sorry I don't know the correct lingo and my writing isn't good on top of that. you walk into the apartment (kitchen) on level 1 has a normal 8' ceiling for about 10 feet. than as you walk past the kitchen and into the living room the ceiling is very high with no second floor. to the left is the first floor bathroom and bedroom. in the living room is stairs going up to the second floor (another bedroom and bathroom) the second floor bedroom and bathroom are on top of the first floor bedroom and bathroom. I think I will stack one floor on top of the other and remove the floors where needed. thank you

Hello All, I am working on a duplex. part of the duplex does not have a floor above - just a very high ceiling. do I create a very tall wall and place floors where needed and leave the one floor part alone? sorry if I did not word that correctly. any pointers would help or if you can point me to a video that would help me understand what I need to do - before I start doing it. I am going to start but am guessing maybe I will just build a floor - put another floor on top of that and delete the floor where the duplex is only one floor. Thank you Tom
