  1. DBC, many thanks for your description of what's taking place. I didn't know this, and your explanation is spot-on. Crazy that with all of the updates that CA provides, that something simple like this could be implemented. I've been using Chief since 1998, and always learning new tips such as yours. Again, thanks for all of your help!
  2. Thanks for the response. I updated all libraries/catalogs in the Library. Thanks by the way... Still nothing when I'm on the Floor Plan and select various options in "Door Style:" - Use Default, Slab, Glass Slab, Library, etc.. Nanawall pops up in the search from Library, but doesn't populate and give me the different door types. See screen shot (No Nanawall Door). The only way I know that Nanawall catalog is available is by going to the Library. See screen shot (Nanawall in Library).
  3. I've been trying unsuccessfully for past 30-minutes to have Nanawall's catalog populate in X16 in the Exterior Door Specification dbx. When I select the door in Floor Plan and open up the dialog box, the current bi-folding Nanawall door is shown (WD66 panel) with six leafs in 3D view. I want to change it to a different Nanawall door (NW 640 Aluminum). When I click on "Library" it doesn't give me the Nanawall catalog? I downloaded the current Nanawall catalog from Chief, and it's in the Chief Library. Why isn't Nanawall showing up in the Exterior Door Specification dialog box?
  4. I found it! Here's the solution: 1. Video on YouTube called "How to Install HP Plotter T830 on Mac !! BigSur & Catalina !!..." At 1:20 he shows where to look for driver. It's called "HP DesignJet Mac Raster Driver" 2. Go to Safari and look for HP.Support page and type in the HP DesignJet T100 (or 120) plotter. You'll not be able to download the Mac version from available dropdown menus. My humble apologies, but I could not recreate the steps to find where the Mac version is located. See first attached file "1. HP Support Page" 3. You're looking for a file called "Universal Raster . dmg" Could not upload the Universal Raster file as it's over 100 MB. See file "3. Universal..." 4. Once it loads, you'll get a screen recommending that you install a new printer, etc. See file "2. Installation Instructions". 5. Once you select the new printer from System Settings, you'll be able to see the various options for printing large formats such as D, E, etc. 6. I printed out a color print of the Layout page and it's perfect. Hope this helps someone down the road. Cheers!
  5. Sure hope someone has come across this same issue. I run both platforms for Windows and Mac OS. I installed my HP DesignJet T100 on the MacBook Pro today. Great, no issues. I opened a flash drive with full backup of my project designed in Win 10. No issues. When I went to CA X16 "Print", it has generic settings for paper sizes and no ARCH D (24x36). Nothing for ARCH A thru E shows up. I spent 1 1/2 hours trying to navigate HP's web site. Not recommended. I'm desperate as I have a meeting with clients tomorrow and am trying to plot a Layout in ARCH D with MacBook Pro.
  6. Rene, sorry for my ignorance, but I cannot find the "default template" in Program Files for the PC. See my two screen shots. Again, my Wall Layers is corrupt in its current state.
  7. Rene, I don't have a Default Settings in the DBX. It's asking to open the file on my PC. My file is corrupt as I deleted a lot of Wall Types. I need to find the CA default settings somewhere?
  8. Rene, how do I get to this screen or dialogue box?
  9. What do you recommend for reinstalling the entire pallet of Wall Types (42 or more) in X16? I deleted all but 15 Wall Types, and need to reinstall the defaults. Attaching the list of default Wall Types from X14
  10. Many thanks for your help. All of the layers were combined and there was no "Main Layer" until moving these up. Now I have to find out how to get the full Wall Types back, as I only have 17 of the 40 default Wall Types. That's a question for a new thread.
  11. I'm not following this comment, and attaching a screen shot of my wall properties. How can I correct this?
  12. I've been trying to find out why there's a gap between the second and third floors of a hillside residence that I'm designing. I've tried to define the materials for floor support, etc., and cannot make the floor gap to close. Also tried stacking the second and third floors on top of each other (in lieu of staggered), and that didn't help either. Attaching screen shots and plan file for your review and comment. 13. Considering UpCodes, and wanted to find out from this group if they have specific details in CAD or if they're standard PDF's? Reason I'm asking is that it would be very helpful to be able to change the font type/size for the UpCodes details if needed. I've reached out to UpCodes for demo, and haven't heard back yet.
  14. Lastly, this is a huge time saver by just clicking and selecting. No more hunting or scrolling down the Library Line Types to get what you need.
  15. Steve - many, many thanks for this advice. It worked! These were my steps: 1. Create individual line types (cold water / hot water / Vacuum etc. ) 2. After creating the different lines on the Plan file, delete all of them to get back to blank template 3. Double-check the Line Type drop down menu to make sure they're all there 4. Save the new blank Plan file template and go into Preferences and point your New Plan File to this new template Thanks again Steve!!
  16. Here's a screen shot of what I'm trying to load into the Line Type default
  17. I've got a question regarding loading the entire Line Style library into a default plan file for Chief X15. Trying to load the entire "Basic Line Styles, HVAC, Plat, and Plumbing Line Styles into the drop down list of options to select. Currently have to select the Library tool, then scroll down to Line Styles, select the line needed, and go back to drawing. Completely baffled on how to load the full set of Line Styles into the plan file? The User Library for Line Styles has been downloaded and populated. Please see attachment for my current drop down selection.
  18. Thanks Rene, as always. Attaching the Close Polyline button and finished roof for reference.
  19. Good morning. I've been trying for the past 15-minutes to close a polyline for a fairly complicated roof. Tried removing "sections" and then piecing them together, tracing the perimeter and corners, making sure the "Connect CAD Segments" button is selected, and it will not close. Please see attached image of plan view looking down onto the roofline.
  20. Correct. I didn't measure the existing house, and just took a couple of photos. Had to rely on scaling with Bluebeam. This was done more to show the homeowner what her "curb appeal" could look like for an AirBnB like she wants to start. She loves it!
  21. Michael, thanks again for your invaluable help on this one. Just finished the render and wanted to post it. Here are the before and after shots.
  22. Thanks for the replies, but it needs to match the photo, with a 5'-6" flat soffit (ceiling). The siding continues horizontally above the cutaway. What's really tricky are the eaves that match each other with this overhang.
  23. I'm working on a remodel of a straightforward project. Simple gable roof with an intersecting gable. I've watched several videos trying to learn how to extend the roof over a wood deck, and didn't find anything. That said, please see attached PDF photo of the existing house showing dimensions , 3D Chief renders, and the plan file. I've tried spanning the entire roof and then bringing the wall back, but the siding doesn't continue like the photo shows. Also tried an invisible wall with ceiling above, and that didn't work either. Wanted to reach out to the experts in this group to see how to solve this one. I'm baffled.
