Is there a release date for X13? I did search, but got a lot of beta x13 topic returns. Seems as though it is late this year. Sharon Olsen

Thank you so much Dominic!

Thank you Michael! For some reason, it seemed that X12 was at the beginning of Feb. 2020—BUT........given what a tumultuous year 2020 was and 2021 has continued—I am fortunate to remember my name at this point LOL. Sharon

Thank you so much for the head’s up on the macOS! I just updated everything. Will go thru the new tutorials and do a test drive. I so appreciate everyone that has been so helpful.

When will X12 for Interiors be available? Thank you.
-
Thank you everyone! My original question on this thread was for X12 Interiors, did not know that needed to be in my signature too, but will certainly add that. My SSA expires 11-2020. I checked just a few minutes ago and there on the right I now have the green upgrade button—definitely was not there this morning. Thanks again to this great community.

Thank you for helping. The first place I checked was in my Digital Locker. I guess, I need to be patient and look for it at the end of the month.

Sorry, I need to update my signature!!!! I have X11 and I have SSA--get it every year.

I do not see an option to download beta X 11 for Interiors. I am assuming that it is not available at this time.

Thank you Dermot. I called in as I did not know where the download link was in my digital locker. I thought I would see a line saying Chief X11. Did not realize it was in the X10 box. I just don't remember it being located this way from previous years. Thank you again. I am so looking forward to exploring the options. Sorry I will not see everyone at KBIS and the enjoy the benefit of the fantastic tutorials given in your booth. What a great team you have!

Wall Cabinet Crown Disappears Near A Straight Half-Wall
Designers_Edge posted a topic in General Q & A
I have not had this in previous versions of Chief. I placed a 42" high half-wall using the straight half-wall tool to open the kitchen to the dining room. I had used the room divider tool to go from the half wall to the opposite wall "enclosing" the room, and maintaining it's room specification of kitchen. I have deleted the room divider/invisible wall, but that does not help. It seems as if the cabinet/program is reading the half-wall as a full height wall. I would appreciate any help.- 8 replies

X10 Full camera view-cabinet lines jagged
Designers_Edge replied to Designers_Edge's topic in General Q & A
Mark, thank you. I will give this a try. Have been trying to work thru the new tutorials for X10 to understand the new things added to the program. Seems I have time for just the basics on the renderings and always make do with the basic camera 3D views and the dollhouse views. Appreciate any and all tips! Sharon- 4 replies

I have been working in X10 w latest update, setting up my defaults in a custom floor plan template for my kitchen or bath remodels. When I check out my door style selections etc in the full camera view, the cabinet lines are blurry and jagged WHEN the camera view is at an angle. When the camera view is straight on like a wall elevation, everything is perfect. I edited the current camera and turned off bloom, reflections, ambient occlusion etc., but it made no difference. I hope someone can tell me how to eliminate or improve what should be a straight forward quick view of a room. Thank you so much. iMac Retina 5K, OS High Sierra-- I have several screen shots showing: 1. A straight on full camera view without these issues 2. An angled camera view and Chief Architect default camera settings 3. An angled camera view with all of the default camera settings turned off.

X10 Full camera view-cabinet lines jagged
Designers_Edge replied to Designers_Edge's topic in General Q & A
That is the one thing I did not even try! Never used it in X9. Eric, THANK YOU so much. That did the trick--it takes a few seconds, but the view is sound and I could export the image to show a client now. Appreciate your feedback and help. Sharon- 4 replies

I appreciate any help or input on this problem. I have been having this issue for the last 3-4 months and have just been working around it. I only do as-built and remodel plans, so I need to show the casing widths -especially for kitchen remodels. In a PLAN---For example: 3 1/4" casings when dimensioned, whether with automatic interior dimensions or manual dimensions show up as 3 1/2". I have contacted Chief support and sent them a different plan file. They told me to change the "Rounding Method" in the Dimension Defaults setup. I have selected both "Grid Rounding" and "Distance Rounding" and it does not make a difference. I have also tried: locating first the sides and then changed it to rough opening to see if I could work around this glitch. NO luck. I have Chief X9 Interiors and have used Chief since 8.0 and have never had this problem previously. I even opened one of the Chief Architect templates and drew a simple box with one interior wall and inserted a door, then dimensioned---same issue. Here are my default settings

Dimensions for door & window casings incorrect
Designers_Edge replied to Designers_Edge's topic in General Q & A
Thank all of you for your help. I think I am just going to keep it simple, dimension from outer casing to outer casing and do a notation with the trim size. I appreciate all of you and your willingness to take part of a Sunday to help me.- 10 replies

Is Chief X8 or X9 playing nicely with Apple Sierra OS?
Designers_Edge replied to Designers_Edge's topic in General Q & A
Thank you both. I downloaded Sierra and so far it is working great with X8. I have not downloaded X9 and will do so as soon as I finish the project I am working on. Hopefully, when I do, I will not have a problem. -
Is Chief X8 or X9 playing nicely with Apple Sierra OS?
Designers_Edge posted a topic in General Q & A
I have waited patiently to upgrade my iMac to Sierra because of all the problems I experience with Chief when I upgrade to a new version of Apple's OS. It is now the middle of Feb. are people still having problems with crashing? I also have NOT downloaded Chief X 9 because of the same issues--I have been snake bit too many times with crashing, losing hours of work, graphics not displaying properly etc. I just want to avoid all of those headaches and am hopeful that the kinks have been worked out. Updated To OS X Sierra + Now CA Crashes

I have modified and created my own custom plans for my kitchen & bath projects-traditional, transitional,& contemporary, selecting door styles, crown etc. In Chief's migration guides, they always seem to discourage migrating your custom plan and layout templates. "For best results, it is recommended that your either: Use the installed templates as the basis for creating new plan and layout files in Chief Architect X ......" Use the installed templates as the basis for creating new custom templates" I certainly DO NOT want to have to set up a new custom layout file every year. I understand that if you are still using stuff from X1 that may be a problem and I just redid things in X6. Has anyone encountered problems migrating their custom templates forward from year to year? Just wondering if one is asking for trouble with file corruptions etc? Thanks for your insight!

Migrating your own custom plan and layout templates
Designers_Edge replied to Designers_Edge's topic in General Q & A
I so appreciate everyone who took the time to answer my question. I am so grateful for the generous and helpful people in this forum. -
I downloaded it last week. I have been working in 2 separate files this morning and both have frozen on me to where I can't even do a force quite but have to turn the power off. It has happened when sending a layout to print, a layout to PDF, in a different program when in layout and plan working in changes to an elevation. So today, it has frozen on me 4-5 times. I do not get the option to do an error report because I have to turn off my computer.
