Richard_Morrison
I have a desktop at work and a laptop at home. I would like to make sure that I have the same bonus and manufacturer library catalogs on both. (User catalog is on Dropbox, so that's always current for both.) Is there any good way to ensure this happens automatically?
johnny
If you are using DropBox through your file browser on each machine, doesn't that happen anyways? I can't speak to CA, but with my "shared" files I have shortcuts to the directories in Dropbox so anything that happens on one or the other is mutually affecting both. Richard_Morrison
No, the Chief internal catalog file locations are set by the program initially, and I don't know of any way to get the program to "point" to new file locations. The "My Data Folder" location has the User library so that is easy to change to Dropbox under Preferences.
johnny
I wonder if you can create a shortcut folder from a location inside Dropbox, and then manually place that in the same location as where CA looks for the user files? Here is the article I found https://www.dropbox.com/en/help/
Richard_Morrison
Lotta GB's in those catalog files. More than I want to sync via Dropbox. For now, I'm just copying all of the catalogs from the "Windows/ProgramData/Chief Architect Premier X7" folder to OneDrive and will copy back onto the other computer. For others, here is some useful information. http://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00001/migrating-chief-architect-to-a-new-computer.html Note that there is one file and one folder with registration information that shouldn't be copied.
