creatrix
I am a persevering Chief user who is always learning. I would like help creating a lintel as shown in my pictures. Essentially in SW architecture, they are exposed beams that sit above windows and doors. I've seen explanations for using moldings but lintels here in NM are usually 5" or 6" rough cut lumber with a depth to match your walls. Thanks in advance. JKEdmo
Joan, I took a stab at this. I modified a Fixed Door object to serve as a timber lintel that you can manually place above a door or window. Looks good in 3D, but has a big graphical problem in plan display -- the lintel shows up and cuts the wall where it preferably would be hidden or dashed in plan display. I imagine someone smarter than me can figure this out! But, maybe this is a start. PLAN attached. Jim P.S. I was really into adobe architecture in college so this brought me back. JKEdmo
OK, I think this is a better solution: I created a fixture symbol designed to cut the wall it hangs off of. It is placed on its own dashed layer, so looks graphically acceptable in plan. Credit goes to some past forum posts (Alaskan Son et al). Updated PLAN attached. See clouded area.
