mkennedy2000
How are folks tracking "versions" or "issues" in the new project management tool. I'm used to copying and pasting an entire dated and versioned folder, containing a layout, one or more plans and any assets such as PDF or JPG files. I'm able to do this in the windows explorer very quickly and it means the CAD folders in the cloud are always up to date without any steps on closing. I suppose we're at risk of 2 users opening the same file at once, although I've never had that happen. But I digress - to my original question, is there a painless way to maintain a versioned folder structure? Does my project manager know what other users are doing? Ultimately, al our CAD must reside in the cloud (or some other shared server, I used to run a LAN with a RAID box) and without versioning, IDK how multi users will keep track of who's got the latest version. I'm assuming that the point of backup and delete is to remove the project from the dashboard. So the user path might be - import the project from the cloud (does that delete if from the shared data store?), then I'd copy and version inside the PM tool, then back up and delete after I was done working o t would I export and delete? I'll try it but any voices of experience would be welcomed. Orrrr..... I may just wait for the PM to graduate to the cloud, which might feel better to me. This will be a completely separate layout with linked plan files that will have no links to the originals
