Ed_Orum
I am looking at a project which is a pole barn type construction. Lower level is a garage, upper level is living space. The slab needs to be independent of the walls. It needs to cut around the posts on the interior (with 1/2" expansion joist) and be even with the exterior side of the posts. The 6x8 posts need to extend 32" below grade and are supported by 30"x30"x10" footings. the 6x8 posts need to extend to the top plate of the exterior walls. Roof is simple truss design. The living area floor to be 14" clear span floor trusses supported at the outboard ends by 2x12's on either side of the 6x8 Posts. Does Cheif have a "foundation" style that is for pole barn construction? Garage ceiling is 9'; living space above is standard 8'. Any suggestions for drawing this, or should I go with my first instinct and pass? Thanks! Happy Drafting, Lane
JonathanK
Chief handles pole structures way better than it used to. There is less fudging and a little more automation. You could essentially build a wall type that would do what all you want, or you could build the posts individually with the footings, and your wall type could be just the wall girts and steel. Likewise with the concrete slab. You could just have CA make it's OOB slab, or if you wanted to show the level of detail you're talking about you could use solids with expansion foam and the whole nine. I wouldn't be afraid to tackle it, I guess. But I always enjoy a good challenge
