Jhrost
I haven't been using my Chief Arch 10.0 (upgraded to 10.08B) for years not... I just recently reinstalled it and after entering the CD key which I do have it says the Hardware Lock cannot be found. I was able to install the HASP driver. I cannot remember but I think there was a "USB dongle" that I used to have to run this program. Does anybody have a picture of the actual dongle from version 10 so I can jog my memory and look for it? Thanks in advance. Jhrost
So, looking through my 9.5 box I found the 9.5 key... hmmm. Its plastic with a red light inside when inserted and says "Chief Architect 9.5 Full" on a blue sticker. I assume the 10.0 key looks similar to that one which I tried but won't work with the 10.0 version. Still looking.
Jhrost
Ok. Found it! It has no sticker but does say HASP on it. It is smaller that the 9.5 key. BUT same red light. Now when I run as administrator and enter the CD key, Windows 10, it says runtime error.... Working on that...

Bob_Medvetz
I have Chief Architect version 10 running on Windows 10 and 11. See this thread for more information on how to accomplish this. HASP not recognized.

Hey Bob, I tried absolutely everything I could but I couldn’t get CAV10 working on my windows 10 HP Elite PC that is over a dozen years old. I have a windows 11 Lenovo ThinkPad X12 tablet that I will try your suggestions on to see if I can get it to work on that. It can work on certain pc computers or laptops that have the necessary drivers and other software installed on them. I certainly acknowledge that and will not give up trying. Bob_Medvetz
The trick is to delete the new HASP driver installed by Windows and then install the "old" Sentinel driver.

Do you know what version of sentinel I need to go back to in order to accomplish this ? I have tried that but it didn’t work for me, probably because I couldn’t find a sentinel driver old enough to install ? I also need to be very careful where I download drivers from on the web so I stick to the Thales website for now. If you could kindly look at your program files for on your windows PC to tell me what version of sentinel you have installed, that would help us all greatly. These are steps to follow that Google shows below to solve the problem. Your trick is correct as shown at point 3. 1. Check physical connections Try a different USB port: Plug the HASP key into a different USB port on your computer. Plug in directly: If you are using a USB hub, remove the key from the hub and plug it directly into the computer. Check the LED: Check the light on the HASP key. A constantly blinking light indicates an error, while a solid light usually means it's detected correctly. 2. Reinstall the HASP drivers Uninstall: Go to Device Manager by searching for it in the Start Menu. Expand the "Universal Serial Bus controllers" tree. Find all entries for the dongle (there may be multiple), right-click each one, and select Uninstall device. Reinstall: Go to your software provider's website (e.g., Mastercam, Cochenille Design Studio) and download the latest HASP/Sentinel driver installer. Run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. Restart your computer after the installation is finished. 3. Alternative driver solution If the above steps don't work, there may be a specific driver version conflict. Some applications require older driver versions. Check with your software provider to see if a specific driver version is recommended and install that version if it differs from what you currently have. Looks like version 7.8 from your post in this thread. Thanks you Bob. Edited Sunday at 03:15 AM by mthd97
Bob_Medvetz
I uploaded the drivers in the previous HASP not recognized. thread. Look at the second thread which states to download the files into a Sentinel folder. Those are the drivers that you need. I took screen shots for you of my Windows 10 configuration. Note that there are two separate drivers - HASP and USB Key
mthd97
Thank you very much Bob. Edited: I appreciate all your hard work to help us here Bob. Those drivers in the files you supplied in the other thread were certainly installed. I was testing it with my Lenovo ThinkPad X12 Windows 11 and home designer pro 7 with the red hasp key. Unfortunately I couldn’t get the HDP7 to work on this machine after putting in my code. I also tried it on my old HP Elite windows 10 pc and still couldn’t get it to work on that machine. The red light certainly turned on the hasp key for both devices and these drivers are indeed 7.80 as you have stated. (I removed all the other divers as you stipulated before installing the drivers supplied by you. That made the light in the hasp key turn off.) I get 3 entries related to hasp key installing in the device manger. Those two above that you have highlighted in yellow above as well as a third one called “HL key”. I am sure there is still a way to get it work but it might be that I have to install those drivers separately and manually ? That is what I had to do to get my older programs (V10 and prior) to work on a new XP64 bit pro machine that I bought off eBay Australia a couple years back. I am still not giving up yet to get them to work on a newer machine like you have successfully done. All good fun ! Bob_Medvetz
I am confused. When did "home designer pro 7" come into the equation? I was under the impression that you were having trouble with the Chief Architect version 10 HASP dongle. "That is what I had to do to get my older programs (V10 and prior) to work on a new XP64 bit pro machine". My only experience with Home Designer Pro is Home Designer Pro 2025 which is the version I have. I did not realize that earlier versions of Home Designer Pro had a HASP dongle. My only experience with Home Designer Pro is Home Designer Pro 2025 which is the version I have. I did not realize that earlier versions of Home Designer Pro had a HASP dongle. Same type of dongle is used for all these programs CAV10,9.5 & HDP7 (Dark Red HASP key) I have them all running now on that new XP pro machine that I got from eBay. I still had to manually install the HASP driver from the CA program CD. I will try and install CAV10 on my windows 11 Lenovo ThinkPad X12 with those drivers you provided. Then I will also try installing CAV10 on my HP elite with those drivers you provided. I will let you know If it will work with Chief Architect version 10. Edited: still no go with CAV10 on either device. Please see pic of screen error. That is great you can run CAV10 on a pc with either windows 10 or 11. That means you can print plans from a newer machine and that is what I would like to do as well. So I will keep on trying, my next step is to isolate the old HASP drivers from the CA program CD to see if they will get the HASP dongle working properly on my modern pc’s. BTW this post was started by @Jhrostso it may help them too ? Edited Tuesday at 05:18 AM by mthd97
Bob_Medvetz
I noticed that the screen shot says Architect 10.0 Full. It should be 10.08b. There was/is an update that you have to install for the HASP to work. It is 10.08. See attached screen shot for version.

I will update it and try again and hopefully it will work. Edit: I tried but I get this message below even though I am the administrator of my pc’s. Anyway around this ? Well done Bob you have successfully shown those of us who have an old dark red HASP Key to install Chief Architect version 10.08 on newer windows machines. I now have CAV10.08 working on my windows 11 laptop and on my windows 10 pc. No short cuts here, we all need to follow all the steps Bob suggests in his posts here and in other threads. Cheers !
