Hardware Lock dongle Chief Arch 10.0

I haven't been using my Chief Arch 10.0 (upgraded to 10.08B) for years not...

I just recently reinstalled it and after entering the CD key which I do have it says the Hardware Lock cannot be found.

I was able to install the HASP driver.  I cannot remember but I think there was a "USB dongle"  that I used to have to run this program.

Does anybody have a picture of the actual dongle from version 10 so I can jog my memory and look for it?

Thanks in advance.

So, looking through my 9.5 box I found the 9.5 key... hmmm. Its plastic with a red light inside when inserted and says "Chief Architect 9.5 Full" on a blue sticker.

I assume the 10.0 key looks similar to that one which I tried but won't work with the 10.0 version.

Still looking.

Ok. Found it!  It has no sticker but does say HASP on it. It is smaller that the 9.5 key.  BUT same red light.

Now when I run as administrator and enter the CD key, Windows 10, it says runtime error....

Working on that...

I have Chief Architect version 10 running on Windows 10 and 11. See this thread for more information on how to accomplish this.

HASP not recognized.

Hey Bob, I tried absolutely everything I could but I couldn’t get CAV10 working on my windows 10 HP Elite PC that is over a dozen years old.

I have a windows 11 Lenovo ThinkPad X12 tablet that I will try your suggestions on to see if I can get it to work on that.

It can work on certain pc computers or laptops that have the necessary drivers and other software installed on them. I certainly acknowledge that and will not give up trying.

The trick is to delete the new HASP driver installed by Windows and then install the "old" Sentinel driver.

Do you know what version of sentinel I need to go back to in order to accomplish this ?
I have tried that but it didn’t work for me, probably because I couldn’t find a sentinel driver old enough to install ?

I also need to be very careful where I download drivers from on the web so I stick to the Thales website for now.

If you could kindly look at your program files for on your windows PC to tell me what version of sentinel you have installed, that would help us all greatly.

These are steps to follow that Google shows below to solve the problem. Your trick is correct as shown at point 3.

1. Check physical connections

Try a different USB port: Plug the HASP key into a different USB port on your computer.

Plug in directly: If you are using a USB hub, remove the key from the hub and plug it directly into the computer.

Check the LED: Check the light on the HASP key. A constantly blinking light indicates an error, while a solid light usually means it's detected correctly.

2. Reinstall the HASP drivers

Uninstall:

Go to Device Manager by searching for it in the Start Menu.

Expand the "Universal Serial Bus controllers" tree.

Find all entries for the dongle (there may be multiple), right-click each one, and select Uninstall device.

Reinstall:

Go to your software provider's website (e.g., Mastercam, Cochenille Design Studio) and download the latest HASP/Sentinel driver installer.

Run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

Restart your computer after the installation is finished.

3. Alternative driver solution

If the above steps don't work, there may be a specific driver version conflict. Some applications require older driver versions. Check with your software provider to see if a specific driver version is recommended and install that version if it differs from what you currently have.

Looks like version 7.8 from your post in this thread.

Thanks you Bob.

I uploaded the drivers in the previous HASP not recognized.  thread.  Look at the second thread which states to download the files into a Sentinel folder. Those are the drivers that you need.

I took screen shots for you of my Windows 10 configuration. Note that there are two separate drivers - HASP and USB Key
