winterdd
Hey guys, how would you work around this? I need the rim joists to supersede the railing walls at the opening. They wanna keep the stairs under the roof.
winterdd
I did try this but there is still two problems. a) the opening perimeter is a tad taller than the existing rim joists. b) the treated lumber texture is rotated the wrong way. I know if I "adjust material def" its just gonna screw it up the opposite way.
PitMan71
A few things I was able to do on my end.... Might help you get somewhere on this issue. 1. Under the Walls DBX >> Structure >> Under "Platform Intersections" Try turning off the radio box "Invisible Walls and Railings - Generate Between Platforms" 2. Also, I created a small invisible wall on the inside edge of the railing so that the bordering wall of the hole is not the exterior railing. 3. Another thing I noticed is that the higher exterior boards are being generated by the floor depth of the particular floor, check that on the room definition of the hole. 4. Last thing I tried is just cutting a hole in the deck with a poly line and adding the stairs. A combination of these things might get you moving in a better direction. Good luck.

Thanks, I had the porch -3 1/2" so I had to compensate in structure tab to subtract that from the taller "walls".
richoffan
Sometimes it's just easier to set the limit on the decking with the straight deck edge and build the rest. Once you make the pieces, copy / paste and the exact placement tools make it fairly simple. You can adjust the grain in plan materials - copy>edit>rename. Change the angle to what you need in pattern And texture. 1
