Nigel8159
First please excuse the rough drawn explanation image. I am working on some material from a structural engineer who is assisting with an very difficult design. We are doing a multi-level residential build where each new level up is inset from the lower level. The engineer is sizing the floor platform to carry the upper offset load. To cover the offset rafters will run from the wall to the floor platform. The idea is simple enough but I can't seem to find how to have Chief frame the floor beyond the exterior wall of that level. I can manually draw/place the TJI's but I'm hoping there is way to have it done automatically as we are doing multiple revisions as the project goes on and to keep manually editing this is very costly in time. Any help would be appreciated. BTW my signature is correct except that I am currently on X16 Premiere Example of Floor Extension.pdf
MPDesign
I would suggest that you use an invisible exterior wall to define the floor space. Then place your roof plane.
Nigel8159
Thank you Michael. I actually was considering this yesterday. This should help immensely, as my first two levels are 10 sided (decagon's) and the 3rd level is an octagon, it's hard enough without having to individually place every TJI and trim them. MPDesign
That sounds like an interesting building, show some pics when you get it sorted.
