How to add a girder on a foundation plan on the plan view?

My students learning Chief Architect and they have been using MicroStation previously. They are having to draw a plan view on the foundation and need to add piers and a girder. How can we get these items on the plan?

I think you can get what you want by just drawing a beam and then just placing posts with footings along it.  See picture below as an example.
