Just in case you need another option, this is what I do: 

  1. select an existing plank from the main deck and Copy
  2. Paste that plank, rotate and resize the length and necessary
  3. Place it 0n the deck but raise it just about .5" so that it shows a tad (by creating a shadow) in the perspective view
  4. Open the Breaker Board and "Fill" it with a solid color of your choice.

I don't bother to "split/break" the main planks - too time consuming.  This gives the contractor the main idea.
