Auto dimension when creating a wall

Thanks in advance for what will probably be a very simple answer.

I am using Chief Architect Premier X15 on a Mac Book Pro for reference.

I would like to turn off the Auto Creation of dimensions for walls. I have read many posts on the subject in this forum but I must be missing something because the dimensions always seem to be created using the "Overall Dimension Defaults". It does not matter what I choose for my "Active Defaults" the dimensions always seem to be created even if I turn off "Auto Refresh" in the dimension set defaults. That seems very confusing when I read it so I hope it makes sense to those of you with plenty of Chief experience.

As an example, I would expect if I drew a wall on the Electrical Plan View that no dimensions would be placed around structure. I would expect this behavior because its selected dimension default has "Auto Refresh" turned off.

The answer maybe be that all walls are tied to the "Overall Dimension Defaults" when they are created regardless of what plan view settings are used. If so, that answers my question and I will just turn it off there.

Thanks,

Scott

You need to turn off "auto refresh" for your exterior dimensions under "setup automatic" for the active dimension defaults.

You can also just group select your dimensions and delete them and the program will ask you if you want to turn off "auto refresh".
