Jezzstucco
Hi Everyone...Fairly new to the software so be v grateful for any help on this query using Chief premiere x13. The design is for a new extension to the side of an 1800's cottage. I've imported this design in cad...Initially tried the cad to walls process with no success due to many varying wall thicknesses and a poorly layered cad file, so went on to tracing over the top of the cad lines with the exterior wall defaults. This linked up fine for the extension (left side of plan) as its square with uniform wall thicknesses, however I've had a job linking up the existing walls due to the angles and varying wall thicknesses. I've just tried the avenue of creating these walls using polyline solids which has worked great thus far but have some questions on how to go about dragging windows and doors to these walls like with 'exterior wall defaults' many thanks in advance J Cad to Wallsm.plan
Chopsaw
Putting doors and windows into polyline solid walls will not be fun. Your best bet is to use walls where ever it is possible using custom wall types and "Allowed Additional Angles". If you run into something a wall simply will not do then add a small patch with a p-solid to a chief wall. Otherwise you will be on a rather steep learning curve with bolean operations and symbols that really do not take advantage of the way the software was meant to be used. Jezzstucco
thanks for the advice! i think adding a small patch with a p solid to a chief wall sound like its the most likely way around it. i'll give that a go
