MGM_Home
Hello Everyone, Trying to created a "dormer bump-outs" with no luck. I have 2nd. floor with roof starting at 5 feet and then continuing on to 8 ' at 12/12 pitch. When I bump out the 2nd. floor portion of the wall for the window, the wall is going to its full height, as it should , then I place the window in the bump out that is is higher than the existing roof plane. I created a manual roof planes on the top of the bump out, but then I can't close little space between the new "dormer" roof planes and the lower main roof plane. In essence, I want a knew wall from the new small roof place to the main - existing lower roof plane....See attached a picture of examples...Any ideas how to solve this....? joey_martin
You need to add a small "attic" wall in that gap, or...extend the wall back through the gap and then open the wall dbx and check the box for ROOF CUT WALL AT BOTTOM.
MGM_Home
Hello Joey - thank you so much for your tip, it helped me to fix these little gaps. Any ideas how I could carry the roof planes from the bump out without protruding into the room...? Please see the picture attached. Thanks so much - Michael
joey_martin
The roof planes simply need to be connected to the main roof plane. Select a roof plane, hit 2 on tryout keyboard, and select the roof plane to connect it to.
