MississippiMims
I'm about to begin a river house project and don't know how to set up the foundation. I'm fairly new to the platform but have completed four monolithic slab houses with very basic skills. This house will have a regular slab on the ground for parking and storage with posts that will support the structure. For this project the client doesn't want to see the posts and wants a brick wall around the perimeter. Code requires that the brick wall have large openings to allow water flow when flooded. How do I set this up before drawing the floorplan? Can anyone lead me to a video that will get me headed in the right direction?
Kbird1
There is a Tutorial in the KB about doing Elevated Structures , that maybe a good point to start at at least.... *** the Tutorial was done in 2015 (so not in X10) and a few things have changed eg Floor1 defaults is now under Floors and Rooms>Current Floor and Normal Room Defaults is now just Floor and Ceiling Platform*** I am not familiar with detailing breakaway walls etc as we do not do it here , have a look at this Tutorial : (use the Tools Dropdown (green) on the right if you prefer a PDF) https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-01027/creating-an-elevated-structure-on-pilings.html Also, it's good to have your Forum Signature filled in, especially with the Software Version, and of course a real Name is nice too .............. See mine below in Blue for how to do that. If you don't see my Signature then you have them turned off for the Forum so you need to Toggle it on by going to the Upper RH Corner of this Forum Window and Clicking on your Username and making sure Signature are enabled (green) and then Add your Own Sig. too : UserName> Account > Signatures M. MississippiMims
Thanks for the reply Mick and I took care of the signature part. I'm not computer illiterate but I'm close so I don't know all of the computer or version information. I'm using Home Designer Pro that was downloaded in May so I guess its the latest version. I will start with the tutorial you suggested and see where that gets me. I will also be looking for any upcoming webinars to help me get more proficient with the program. I've never used the snipping tool. Thanks for the tutorial. I tried adding an example showing the bricked lower floor.
MississippiMims
Ok. Should I repost the question over there?

Yes nobody on HT will see your Question here and the procedure is Different in HD Pro than Chief Premier but there is a Tutorial for Pro too https://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00752/creating-a-structure-that-is-built-on-piers.html Same Password over on HT , just add the HD 2019 to your Sig. so people know what you are using ...it's important as each version of HD has different capabilities and that effects how you can do things , though Pro has alot of Premier feature so some Premier Tutorials will help you.
