I own Chief Architect 9.5 the Full version with the dongle. I have not used it in many years. The license transfer fee is $50 which I will pay.

You can use the 9.5 version if you have an old windows computer or upgrade to X6 for $1595.

A new X6 license form Chief sells for $2695.

I will sell you my 9.5 for $800 and you will save $300 if you upgrade to X6 versus buying X6 directly from Chief.

Thanks,

Hey Alan,

That is all well and fine. I hope you get it sold.  Anyone out there have a 9.5 without a dongle or hardware lock?  I think we all thought a "hardware lock, great what versatility!"  I would buy 9.5 without a hardware lock if they exist?

Chief has gone to the Subscription Model and no longer allows Users to transfer Ownership unfortunately , Home Designer Pro at $595 , is pretty capable for a Prosumer version of Chief though. ( it can also be rented ) .

Hey Mick,

Will Home Designer Pro open Chief 9.5 files?

Rick

I'd suggest calling Sales directly and asking, but Chief has a Free Viewer you can request , (Version 8) which can resave the older Plan and make them compatible with the Newer Versions, you'd also need to, in the Defaults, under Plan, check the box that says Editing in Home Designer is Allowable. ( or some such)

Okay found the KB Article on Legacy Plans, about 1/2 way down there is a green link to request the Free V8 Viewer so you can try it and see if it works on your Plans ( save a backup copy of original 1st.)

Hey Mick,

Hold on... I HAVE the 9.0 Viewer.  I never thought about using it to view and/or print 9.5 files?!?!  WOW! I wonder if the Viewer will install to Windows 10, but maybe even to my Virtual Windows XP Pro?

By the way I have X5 and X6. You might not have known this.

Thanks for the links as well!!

Check and see if Ver.9 will work with the older Legacy plans , I think there is a V10 Viewer Too, but I know the V8 one can convert the legacy plans, and thought it was the only version that could, hence it still being offered.

X6 wasn't a bad version ......
