  1. Symbol - Sits on Roof in the symbol dbx, options panel

You can even create a distribution region and assign the flowers as the distributed object.

The only 2 options I get for Symbol are "Get last symbol" or "Convert to symbol", plus I have NO idea what a "distribution region" is.

  2. Hi all,

I'm trying to build a grass roof with some flowers on it. I can change the roof plane's texture to grass no problem, but it won't let me add any items to the roof.

Apart from changing the default height from the floor for every single flower, is there any (quick) way I can add flowers to the roof? Or have another "secondary" piece of terrain the goes over the house?

    Many thanks,

    Ed

  3. Open a new totally blank plan.

Place the object you want to edit from the library into the plan.

Go to a 3D view of the object and select "Delete Surface" (see 1.png).

Select all of the surfaces you want to delete.

When everything is removed that you want removed, then go to Tools>Symbol>Convert to Symbol

Make sure you don't close out of your 3D view while you're deleting surfaces, otherwise you'll have to re-do it.

That was very helpful, thanks! It just dawned on me how many surfaces are in one object!!

  4. Yes, but it depends on the item.  Is it a Symbol or an Architectural Block?

If it's a Block, you can just explode it and delete the things you don't want.

If it's a Symbol there are a couple of ways of dealing with it.

      1.  Just change the wall material to a 100% transparent material

      2.  Put in a Blank Plan - Display in 3D - Use Delete Surface Tool - Create a New Symbol

When I open the object, it says it's a "fixture". The explode option doesn't appear, and there's no option for the walls to be transparent; I can change the material, but that's about it.

  5. Hi,

I've just downloaded a waterfall feature for a garden. I like it, but it has a walled background that I don't want. There isn't a wall-less version of it either. Is there any way I can remove the walls, if the object came as one item?

    Thanks,

    Ed

  6. Xfrog is far from a scam. Can you model 3D trees? You have to pay for quality assets. Besides, there are many 2D and 3D models available from Xfrog for free.

As far as the skate ramps, this is a quote from your first post: "I'm very new to CA and I'm trying to make some man-made hills & mounds for the landscaping in my project." No mention of skate ramps. To make skate ramps like you see in the video, I'd suggest learning to create Polyline Solids from closed Polylines, and review the Primitive Solids tools as well. Or you can model them in another program and import them into Chief Architect.

I want to do the hills in the shape of those skate ramps. The polyline solids only offer me cubes, spheres, cylinders etc.

  7. You can get plants, both 2D and 3D, from Xfrog.com.

Have you tried using the Terrain>Modifier>Hill and Terrain>Modifier>Valley tools? Here is a hill shape that took about 10 seconds. You can achieve all kinds of shapes using the Advanced Splines tools.

I just went on Xfrog, they want £200 for it, that's a scam and a half. Are there any free ones out there? Not everyone is rich.

Also, I can already do that with hills, I'm looking for a way to replicate the skate ramps in the video.

    Thanks.

  8. HI,

I'm very new to CA and I'm trying to make some man-made hills & mounds for the landscaping in my project. I've had some mixed luck with raised terrain areas, and the elevation lines & areas are glitchy as hell. I've seen on youtube that someone made a skate park, and the ramps and humps are what I want to reproduce (with different textures), the link to that video is:

Also, the flower & plant library is very limited, is there anywhere I can get some as additional library items?

    Thanks everyone,
