Are you using Terrain...Elevation Data...Elevation Spline?
Do you have Connect CAD Segments toggled on - if Connect CAD Segments is toggled off, you will only get individual straight lines (no splines). To get the splines, the lines have to connect.
Hi,
I tried this, and it worked, but now this happens...

Hi,
I'm trying to figure out how to make a copy of a hill where we're working, but all I can get is straight elevation lines, even when I click on "splines".
There's no option to make curved hillsides. What do I do?
Thanks,
Ed

You can also export your entire User Library. All shortcuts will remain intact. It saves a lot of time when upgrading if you have a highly cutomize User Library.
If you mean user catalogue, then it it doesn't have that option, it only works with sub-folders. I made a sub folder, put everything into it and it said it was too big, so now I've got to do it in 4-5 stages.

There's no way to drag them all in at once though; I've got 200+ items and I won't have time to do it one by one, any ideas?
Thanks.

Sussed it; you click the first object, then scroll down, press shift and then click the last object. It highlights everything in-between.

Hi,
I'm transferring over to a new PC, but I can't seem to find out how to transfer over my user catalogues; the materials, objects, textures etc. that I've added from outside sources.
Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Ed

When I click on Final View, the screen now just goes black; any ideas?

Thanks everybody, glad to know I'm not the only one.

Hi,
If I can't see any real difference between full camera and final view, is it because the PC I have isn't really up to scratch? Or is there just no discernible difference?
Thanks,
Ed

Hi everyone,
I'm hoping somebody could tell me how to replicate a fluke I've made on one of my earlier practice runs.
I've made a road-side bank from a raised terrain region, using a stone texture on the terrain skirt in order to create a rough example of a gabion cage covered with turf. The first one I did was just as steep as I'd like it to be, but every subsequent attempt has been for too shallow a gradient.
I've attached pictures of both attempts, the steeper one is the one I want, but can't replicate. I've checked each one details and they appear identical.
I should also point out that they are both the same height.
Can anyone tell me what I did?
Thanks

I was able to open object and change the height from there, which is odd as that option wasn't available before I asked the question...

Hello,
I'm trying to get my full camera into a tunnel I've made using a terrain hole.
The trouble is, the camera goes over the top, at the height the terrain would be if there wasn't a hole. How do I stop this? I've right-clicked on the camera but none of the options seem to offer a solution.
Thanks.

Then that is not a free catalog. If you see 'SSA' across the catalog image, it's not free.
But they've all got that. I'm just after a wider variety of plant images. If I put up a post on this forum saying like "can anyone send a copy of the bonus catalogue to ed.209@hotmail.com please" would that breach any of the rules?

-
Sorry, I should have stated that my boss is too cheap to pay for SSA...

Then you can press Windows Key + R on the keyboard.
In the Run dialog type:
%programdata%
Click OK and you should see a folder for your version of Chief Architect.
In that folder you want to copy the Core Libraries, Bonus Libraries, Manufacturer Libraries, and Referenced Files folders to get all of your Chief Architect Content.
To copy your User Catalog to another system you will want to export it out to a .calibz file and then import it into Chief Architect.
I'll give that a go and let you know. I've only got the core catalogues for some reason; is there somewhere I can re-download the bonus/manufacturer etc.?

Are you running Windows or Mac?

Hi,
Our internet connection is down (I'm at home writing this) and we can't download the core cataogue onto our new PC. Where can I find it on the old PC so I can add it manually?
Thanks.

I'm not sure either of those solutions will work. Here's what I do:
1. Make the Handrail 5" wide x 54" tall (square/rectangular profile)
This will make the handrail look like a solid wall.
2. Set the Newells as 42" tall
This sets the top of the "Wall" to 42" above the nosings
Just tried this method (once I converted to metric)/. It's closer, but it's still not quite right (see pic).
Your guide to polyline solids was really good, could you do one for post #3 if you have a spare minute please?
Also, it won't let me change the newel height.
Thanks

See Post #3.
I used a soffit to cover the bottom of the stairs, but there is surely a more Chief like way.
A ceiling plane would be ideal, but I could not get it to align with the outer surface of the drywall on the angled part of the wall.
I don't know how to do any of that, what do I do once I surround the staircase with a wall?

It's not a setting problem.
If the Terrain hole extends over the perimeter of the Terrain, it will break the perimeter and the terrain edges around the Terrain Hole will have a skirt.
If the Terrain Hole is completely inside the Terrain perimeter, you won't see a skirt.
I'll bet with your first image the Terrain Hole is contained by the Terrain perimeter.
Likewise, I bet with your second image the Terrain Hole crosses the Terrain perimeter.
Nailed it mate, thank you.

Precisely. How do you do that?
