  1. Follow up, downloaded trial last night. When asked what I will use it for on form-kitchens/interiors. Install and there are zero extra layer sets and only one anno set. So can build my own.

Being a mere mortal hope I could save 2 hrs a week. ;)

View to cad is disabled on trial- is it safe to assume once converted dimensions could now be shaped to drawer heads, cabinet doors, openings, molding in section?

If cabinet side panels were included in "make same" that would save me 4 hours a week.

  2. Helpful- might take me a month to get up to speed (not the sharpest here)  but at that rate pays for itself in a month-add the times I don't have to export to TurboCad or screw around with moving/copying cad lines  to dimension openings of cabinets...

Just have to make sure I don't lock a file into X6 that is supposed to go back to assistant (already did one) or shuffle the program  till we can afford to update the other.

Thanks, really food for thought (I've wanted to do this since about 2 months after I got CA in x3- just have to sell that to the CFO over the update :) Guess I gotta go watch videos and take Lews advice.

  3. I'm on interiors and will either be upgrading my second license from 5 to 6 or upgrading my primary from 6 interiors to 6 premier at the moment I can only afford to do one of those.  I'm pretty sure that view to CAD, annosets and project browser will help productivity and a few other little niggling things that don't work in Interiors

OTOH it may be better for me to upgrade the second seat so I can give work back to my temp assistant.

If I go to premier I'd like to be able to have templates with layersets better suited to what I do without the extranious stuff to scroll through.

Was just working on a plan generated in premier and there are quite a few layers, and layersets that I will never use. It appears that many of the layersets are tied to anno sets. Since I'm on interiors I have no access to the anno sets so can't alter them to see if I can get rid of the layersets. I use a half dozen custom layersets as it is besides any that send to layout end up creating when I'm not paying attention.

So the question: is there a way to get rid of these layersets once I have access to annosets?

Layersets I'd like to dump that I haven't been able to are: HVAC, Plot, Roof,TrussDetail, Wall Detail, Framing

Layers are less important but would love to get rid of some.

Thanks will help me evaluate what is best for now since can't afford to do both right now.

  4. The Dell with Quadro is also a laptop, this flies in comparison. Been a year now and fine- had to have them send a new wifi card and can't get one external drive to work properly on the eSata but appears not to be Sagers issue but would say Sager wasn't a big help sorting it out but appears an issue with a lot of machines and eSata drives. Another external is seamless

  5. Thanks, will try those steps, makes sense.

    updated...

Was on finally on the way home but booted back up and tried it. Worked great- stairs are a bit mucky but easy enough.

I had fortunately save the building as a template (get a lot of raised ranch kitchens)  so used that and deleted walls but had correct defaults- guess that's why I lost the stairs.

  6. wasn't working for me either in Firefox, tried IE and it worked. Went back into FF and deleted cache- refresh and close open did nada. now it works.

There does seem to be and issue with the advanced search BTW- I could get results by user, but by user and specific forum got nada.

  7. Adding a page with a cad circle on it did it immediately- had rebooted a few times, saved as, made new layouts, checked half a dozen others, sacrificed a squirrel, and was trying a copy and paste to a new plan, can find a lot to try in 2 hours. Thanks for the help all. Was ready to look for another squirrel when Perry said it printed.

  8. Trying to salvage this to print it- this is locking up in the original plans.

So thought he copy all, paste and hold position- thought that was what I did to solve it the last time but age could be winning here.

So this is what I'm getting- some things on the second floor, some on the first- but in camera they all look to be in the proper place.

    What don't I get?

  9. What it says- locks up when I go to print layout- can't change printer, size anything.

had this a few weeks ago and seemed to be related to missing layers, thought I had that solved. Not sure if it is the same plan.

When I had that tech support told me to clear the "update automatically" which I was unable to at the time. Managed to do that but still

Have tried clear printer info, resetting drawingsheet size, changing the default printer in the plan, reopening. nada.

Any help please. This is just a tiny little job and it's killing me.

I thought I had this on the old forum but can't seem to access that either??

  10. I just ran into this on the laptop. Firefox- Did not clear cookies, if and when I do that it is selective, but have not  done that. Did not sign out. Had not had to log in for several days but for the last few had primarily been reading from my phone (where I have not had to sing in again). Thought maybe forum was open in the phone but no it was not. Signed in with no problem.

Is there a "time out"? Most of the sites I have to log in are secure and those require sign in each time.

  11. I'd noticed a lag and box saying "reading file" -Checked the location, I have both an SSD and a standard. Turns out preferences points to it on "C" (the SSD) but that is a link to the standard. So I created a folder on C and pointed to that. I can still see the box but it is now too fast for me to read.

  12. There are a few cabinets and a few modifications I use often that Chief won't do- recess corner sink base, recessed angled plate rack, side access with glass, non matching interiors, integrated side panels, some angled cabinets, unequal depth pie cut...I can make them in 2020 in a snap, export to cad, open in turbocad, export from that to 3ds or SU but STILL I've had no luck importing them as symbols. So...

I eventually have had to build them out or "parts"-loose shelves, seperate backs, cabinet 3/4" or 1/16" deep, stacking multiple cabinets, psolids, loose doors. All in all a PIA but at least I can get there. Once in a while I've had luck creating in a seperat plan-perspective-delete surface add to library- but that doesn't always do what I expect.

Most times now when I can't get the DBX to do what I need I go directly to "custom fabrication"

Alas I have not always been able to reuse these wonders- sometimes block- library and resuse works out, sometimes open old plan copy and paste works out- most times something quirky happens requiring more work. The upside is it helps when talking with the factory.

  13. The little arrows up in the right corner that show other open tabs- is it possible to either move these to the left side or better yet add a second pair over there? With the default label for the tabs I get several off screen and use these little buttons a lot- keep reaching to the left for them.  Looked in customize toolbars but can't find em.

And or- is there a way to change the default tab label to make it shorter?

  14. Must be something in how I did this-

Exported current view of plan to dwg- imported to layer CAD Import- immediately blocked the entirety. Good so far.

I went to hide it- unchecked both the layer I have it on "CAD import" and "architectural blocks", it's still shows?

Does importing a dwg put everything on it's original layer or something?

  15. I took to using build-molding line some time ago. I end up with a fair number of kitchens that have two variations of molding, also allows me to copy an existing set of moldings from plan to plan. I have better control that way. Just have to watch your heights when moving from an old plan.
