  1. Must not have said the right curse words, that didn't work. However i selected the top wall and pulled its bottom up to the upper line and that made both lines disapear.
  2. See attached image. In center of image there are lines at the ceiling and floor line. how can I make those go away. I have tried to find the layer they are on with no success. I have turned off the layer ROOMS and that eliminated some of these extra lines.
  3. How can I create floor truss that looks like the attached. I have tried modifying the standard and I get what I want, but when I copy and paste it reverts to the standard profile. I am mainly interested in having a truss with the top cord to sit on the plate vs. the whole truce sitting on a plate. Thanks in advance for all your great help.
  4. Eric, thats what I did to get the pattern vertical to begin with. However when I apply it it will some times be vertical and some times not. and then if I color it it will sometimes switch directions.
  5. See attached image. I am trying to apply a siding or rustic wood material to the vaulted ceiling. Would like it to run parallel with the rafters, however it pieces itself some parallel and some the other direction. Have this issue on two projects. Any suggestions on how to force the siding to run vertical? I have changed its angle in the texture dialog box. ceiling 3-29-17.pdf
  6. thanks for the answers, works great.
  7. I am doing several screen porches on a project and would like the full height post that abuts the wall to be a full size square post, not a half post. Is there a way to change this?
  8. Thanks everyone for the quick response. Glad this one had an easy answer.
  9. How can I change the dimensions of the beam when I run railing with posts and a beam across the top?
  10. When chief generates a string of automatic exterior dimensions it sometimes adds a point I don't want in the string. Is there a way to delete a single dimension point in a string?
  11. Thanks for the reply, you confirmed what I was thinking.
  12. I have a DWG drawing for a large 3 story house that I wanted to convert to chief so that I can add an electrical layout using chief symbols. I can import the file as a basic cad drawing. all of the walls windows and doors are on a single layer, ARXFINE. I tried importing it per the instructions and then using the cad to wall tool and ended up with an unworkable drawing. Is the it difficult too import an auto cad plan into chief and make a chief type of file? Secondly I can work with the basic CAD file and would like to just add the electrical switches, fixtures and connections. However since my walls don't show as CHIEF walls it won't let me place the switches. Is there a way to override the wall issue? Thanks in advance for all of your wise help. Steve The obvious solution to me is to just work with the basic CAD drawing and draw the switches, fixtures and connections in using CAD and skip the Chief symbols.
