Michael, I have a second floor on part of the house. In the Kitchen I have "no ceiling" checked but it still keeps that invisible ceiling at 8' like the rest of the first floor. Then on the second floor this area is set to open below.

I have a plan with sloped ceilings and using recessed lights, if I put them on the first floor they go to the invisible ceiling so I need to put them on the second floor for them to match the ceiling. The problem is that I want them to show on the first floor not the second floor on my electrical plan. I assume there is a way to do this. I have attached picture.

Joe, that was just the example I gave, labels do not work in windows, doors, cabinets. You click on the option and the screen does not change. Here's a screen shot of the window dialog trying to change label.

Update, uninstalled Chief, downloaded copy from web site, re-installed, started new plan, still labels do not work

I have attached plan. I also tried in a brand new file. Same problem. Wondering if its a program problem and should try to re-install. Lough_Label.zip

I assume there is a setting that got changed somehow. I cannot change any labels on any item, windows, doors, cabinet, etc. I open the dialog box and when i click on label it does not change the screen to allow me to change them. I have attached picture, you can see how the label is clicked but screen does not show, all other options on the left work. Any thoughts?

Hello Charles, we had posted looking for a drafter to help us with modular home plans. I have attached a sample plan of what we do for our factory prints. Take a look and let me know if this would be something that you would be interested in. If you are I would love to have a conversation with you.
Thanks Justin

I have a plan that I need to move 4 more plan files onto the same plan for a development. Problem is I need to push the houses down to a different elevation. Is there a way to do that without having to change all the floor elevations?

I took a look at the Matrix display, nothing helped with that here. Chief still crashes when i do 3D rendering, 2D seems to be fine. Did more research and it appears it is a hardware issue, the way the laptop was built and wired. Even though there is a discrete video card the information still passes through the intel card which somehow is making Chief crash. Still no help from MSI but I think they realize its a problem. My last computer was a Sager and worked perfectly, that model must have been wired differently. So it looks like its coming to a $2,000 laptop that cannot run Chief on an external monitor. If anyone has anymore ideas, pass them along. Thanks for all the help so far.

I will give that a try later tonight and give an update.

The laptop only has 2 ports, HDMI and Mini HDMI, supposedly both controlled by Intel I was told by Nvidia.
-
Yes I know what you are talking about. I cannot figure out a way to change that. NVidia had me look at that as well and told me that was because the HDMI port is on the Intel card. Is there a work around for that?
-
I do have the NVidia set for multiple monitors but the intel still over rules the NVidia card. As far as putting the NVidia in control, I was told by NVidia since the laptops HDMI and Mini HDMI come off the Intel card we cannot control the other monitor with the NVidia. I spoke with MSI again this morning and they had escalated the problem, other issue is the second monitor is slow with just general apps.
-
My problem, we just got a new laptop "MSI GS60" for the office and it has a Nvidia GTX970m and the on board is a Intel HD 530. When we have Chief just running on the laptop all works good. When we hook up the second monitor to the HDMI and move the program over to that screen Chief crashes. Crashes when using the 3D. Has anyone had any experiences like this with newer laptops? We have never had this in the past with other laptops. Any thoughts or ideas would be great. I have called Nvidia & MSI, of course each point fingers at each other. One thing I did find out is that all the external display ports route through the Intel card. Both video drivers are up to date and BIOS is current as well.

Window Spacing When Doing Mulled Unit
verticalworks replied to verticalworks's topic in General Q & A
I understand that but I want to get the lower and upper window tight together. There is the little bit of green siding that runs through there. -
How do I stack windows directly on top of one another? It seems to space them away. I can use the ctrl key but it makes it hard to be accurate.
-
Got it. I will give that a try. Thanks.

But no way to get in a render view just 2D?

Is there a way when drawing the decking railing to have the balusters (spindles) to come over the front of the deck rim joist. I attached picture to show what we are doing.
