Hi @solver I will definitely try that. Unfortunately, I have not upgraded to X9, however, I am thinking this is something on my urgent list to do so. I really appreciate your help!

Hello. I was wondering if there is a way to automatically enter in dimensions for the width and depth of custom countertops, similar to cabinetry. In the Custom Countertop Specification box, I see where to enter information for the countertop thickness and height. In previous projects, I have always had to go back to the floor plan and manually measure how wide and deep I prefer each custom countertop. I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks.

interiorarch replied to interiorarch's topic in General Q & A
Hi @Dermot Thank You. I am unable to open your plan because I am still working in Chief Architect X8, however, I am trying to walk through your written instructions. I will let you know if it works! Best! -
BATHROOM VANITY | BASE CABINET QUESTION
interiorarch replied to interiorarch's topic in General Q & A
@DavidJPotter I already have previously stated I am not trying to have anyone else do the work and I am not trying to find the easiest solution. Sorry how I worded my questions. I am just asking for help, that is all. Isn't that the main purpose of this forum...to ask questions. I appreciate everyone who trys to help, I am not just looking for answers. I am learning and improving in Chief everyday, since I am much more rounded in SketchUp. Thank You! -
BATHROOM VANITY | BASE CABINET QUESTION
interiorarch replied to interiorarch's topic in General Q & A
Hello @solver I am actually interested in learning about many more things in Chief. Sorry if you got the wrong impression in the past. I am not someone trying to be passive in these forums. I am also just trying to learn and get it right. I honestly have already watched a few videos this morning and tried doing research on polylines to achieve this, but had no luck. This is why I have now returned to Chief Talk and respect the help received by others. Maybe if you could help explain it, I could learn and improve. Thank You. -
BATHROOM VANITY | BASE CABINET QUESTION
interiorarch replied to interiorarch's topic in General Q & A
@DavidJPotter I understand that. But I asking for a little more help. I am not sure how to still build it with polylines in order to get it exactly how we need it. I am just trying to find a solution to be precise, in order to send the shop drawings off to our cabinet makers, without causing confusion. Thank You. -
BATHROOM VANITY | BASE CABINET QUESTION
interiorarch replied to interiorarch's topic in General Q & A
Hi @DavidJPotter. Thank you for your quick response. I am not entirely sure how I would build that specific detail out of polylines and have it flush to the cabinet. I feel like building that area and how one part of it comes out and then recesses would be fairly difficult? Best! -
Hello. Please see Attached screenshots for reference to my question. (The cabinetry you see in the image was built by another one of our designers in SketchUp). I am currently working on building a specific type of bathroom vanity for a client's new remodel. I have the entire unit built, however, I am still unable to build the little ledge detail at the base. The bottom area that looks like a little ledge also functions similar to a stile for the bottom of the cabinet. I hope there is some solution to achieve this characteristic. Chief may not be as flexible in providing these kind of details in order to give specific cabinetry units extra flair. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Best!

KITCHEN - PLACING OVEN INTO CABINET (PROBLEM)
interiorarch replied to interiorarch's topic in General Q & A
@Alaskan_Son @DRAWZILLA @dshall @Renerabbitt and Jonathan (who originally responded to my question). We honestly were not trying to put down anyone's directions...We are very grateful for all the support Chief Talk's forum offers and how other users (including yourself) have provided us with in order to improve our own skills in Chief. Also, in terms of the thread that was deleted, this was an accident due to learning Chief Talk's admin/user interface. Hopefully we are able to still receive more helpful input from you and many others in the future. -
Hello. Please see the attached Chief Architect file & screenshot for reference. In this current project, I am building this a shower in the master bathroom (see upper top right of the floor plan). I am trying to have one side of my wall in the screenshot provided, sprayed with subway tile (inside of the shower), while the other side of the wall and the edge still remain drywall. I have tried to just isolate the areas I want tile and the areas of this specific interior wall I want drywall and still have had no luck. I look forward to hearing some of your input. Thank You!

Hi @Renerabbitt Is there anyway you could quickly show me the first part of your response in pictures. I am still slightly confused. Thank You! -
KITCHEN - PLACING OVEN INTO CABINET (PROBLEM)
interiorarch replied to interiorarch's topic in General Q & A
Hi @Alaskan_Son. Maybe it is Deja Vu! Unfortunately, after following all of Jonathan's steps I still had no luck. The microwave Jonathan had placed in that space afterwards was not the one Wolf (.dwg file formate) has provided from their website. I look forward to hearing your input. Best! -
Hello. Please see attached screenshots & Chief Architect floor plan for reference. I am currently building a kitchen for a client and am trying to place a steam oven and regular oven into full height base cabinets. If you look go into the kitchen and look at the cabinetry tucked into the "cubby" made of drywall, on the left you will see a full height cabinet with two areas for appliances. The ovens are both Sub-Zero/Wolf appliances featuring dimensions directly from their website. However, when I go into my "Full Height Cabinet" Specification box - Front/Sides/Back - 6 Appliance & 8 Appliance - both Item Heights allow me to enter their actual size but the Width is locked out. How do I unlock the width to make sure everything is as accurate as possible! Hopefully this all makes sense. Thank You! CHIEF_TALK_FLOOR_1_UPDATE_AUGUST_FRIDAY.plan

Thank You @solver. But unfortunately the only thing I from Monica's blog post was to just add a custom countertop, which did not seem to help or work. Do you have any other solutions. Best!

Hello. Please see attached screenshot & Chief Architect floor plan to use as reference. If you look in the kitchen area of my floor plan, I am currently trying to build a apron sink set into a base cabinet. The actual base cabinet is 35" W & the physical apron sink is 30" (Yes! This is the way we want it). My question to you is how might I get a box unit around the sides of my apron sink (left & right sides) in order to fill the gaps in the overall unit. I tried using 3D boxes/polyline solids & fillers with no luck. I look forward to your input in order to solve this. Thank You! CHIEF_JULY_UPDATE_725.plan

Hello. Please see attached screenshot and Chief Architect plan for reference. If you go into the "Kitchen of this current floor plan & switch over to "Perspective Floor Overview," direct your screen to my kitchen cabinets tucked inside the dry wall or "cubby." I am trying to figure out why my base cabinet's countertop is pushing into the other cabinet unit. I went into my specification dialog panel and the countertop in the "preview" looks flush with the base cabinet it is on. What might be causing this? Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thank You! CHIEF_JULY_UPDATE_725.plan

Hello. Please see the attached screenshot & Chief Architect document for reference. I am currently building this base cabinet unit in the Playroom Bathroom of the first floor. I went to apply this bathroom sink into the countertop and ended up with this result. Could someone please explain why the sink is being pushed down into the cabinets, instead of being flush with the marble countertop. Hopefully this information makes sense (NOTE: The top drawer is a separate from the bottom base cabinet). Thank You! CHIEF_JULY_UPDATE_KITCHEN_A_FLOOR_1.plan

@MarkMc No problem. I will slowly do what you have said in your notes. Thank You so much and I hope you have a nice weekend!

@MarkMc Is there any way you could just provide that Chief Architect file to this conversation. It might just be easier for me to see whats going on in the actual program. I have read the manual and watched videos. The work we do is usually much more custom and advance then what their basic chapters show us.
-
Hi @MarkMc First off, thank you so much for being one of the first to provide user-friendly help fairly quickly every time I have a question. I have attached another screenshot. I am curious what you used to create that area between the cabinets and interior wall (outlined in blue). Also if your entire unit is 42" with 4" legs on both sides, what is the size & depth of that lower cabinet door section compared to the upper drawer section. Thank You!

Hello. Please see attached screenshot for reference. I am currently trying to build a base cabinet unit in one of my clients bathrooms. Another designer I work with designed this idea in SketchUp. I have experience building regular base cabinets, but have never built one where areas of the same cabinet fall back & pull out. In the screenshot my other designer informed me that the 4" legs are actually where the front of the base cabinets face frame would be. However, the actual base cabinets recess 3 1/4" and the top drawer is 1/4" back from the front of the column/legs. Would you recommend building separate areas of this entire cabinetry unit (custom countertops, individual legs, top drawer cabinet, bottom base cabinets). Or is there a way to do this much faster in Base Cabinet Specifications using just one overall cabinet. Hopefuly this make sense and please let me know if you have any other questions. TGIF!

Thank You so much @MarkMc We really appreciate your help!!

Hello. Attached is the Chief Architect file to open and use for reference to my questions* I am currently re-creating a floor plan in Chief Architect based off the same floor plan exported from SketchUp. The overall ceiling height for the first floor is suppose to be 10'. The good news is that after doing a "spot check" with the same house in SketchUp room dimensions all line up. However, when I go into Chief's "Normal Room Defaults" areas to change sizes have been locked out. Also, when you are in the "Perspective Floor Overview" you will notice under the base of the house, drywall or some other type of wall material recess into the blank area of the plan. Could someone let me know why this might also be happening? Absolute Elevations Floor Above (A) : 121 3/4" Ceiling (B) : Floor (C) : 0" Floor Below (D) : 0" ____________________________ Relative Heights Rough Ceiling (E) : 109 1/8" Finished Ceiling (F) : 107 5/8" SWT To Ceiling (G) : 109 1/8" Ceiling Below (H) : 0" Stem Wall (I) : 24 3/4" ____________________________ Thank You! Hello. Please see attached image and Chief Architect file for reference. I am currently working on this kitchen for a client and was trying to place tile along the wall featuring the window and kitchen sink, I continue to get this strange result and am not sure if this is a glitch in Chief Architect or just an overall error in the floor plan. If someone could look in the actual Chief Architect plan and see what might be causing this, that would be awesome and appreciated! Thank You! CHIEF_TALK_IA_SUMMER_DRAFT.plan

Hello. Attached are several images along with a Chief Architect* plan file to use as reference to my question. I am tracing a floor plan I received from one of our designers (the CAD, Default layer is outlined in red). The master plans have already been drawn up in SketchUp. We build the same floor plan in both programs due to different beneficial functions in both companies. As a result, it is important both projects are built to exactly within the same dimensions, in order to share information within our network. In the upper right hand corner of the floor plan, you will notice a set of cabinetry. I have traced my exterior walls/interior walls to fit within the red CAD, Default layer. The area of dry wall that recesses into this "main range" section/unit was designed using polyline solids (box). Based off the screenshot, I built my base cabinets using the same dimensions provided. Unfortunately, my cabinets are completely off from what SketchUps look like in terms of filling the entire "main range" unit of the kitchen. Could the overall floor plan be completely off, I have tried my best to match dimension and seemed to match up. (Hoping this is not the case) Please let me know if this makes sense or if you have any other questions. Thank You! INTERIOR_ARCHAEOLOGY_SUMMER_17_ROUGH.plan
