  1. I'm always curious how we get certain features like "inset door jamb" but not "inset door" I have a commercial property in an old town square that has original 20" solid brick wall and I need to swing the doors out like shown. There is 6" cavity around the door but that is it. The rest of the wall is solid. I need this door to swing out into the cavity from the inside of the wall. Any help would be appreciated.
  2. Super helpful! Thank you! I didn't realize the PCIe4 was backwards compatible. I guess I could always go that route and bring it into a new system down the road. I figured I'd pick up a a refurbished 2080 for about $400 and see how it works. Best case scenario I have it for awhile, worst case it craps out and I just buy a new card or new system.
  3. I have an old desktop machine that has a motherboard capped at PCIe 3.0 which limits the ability on my video card upgrades. I can, however, max out at 128GB for memory if I wanted. It has a decent PCU and plenty of storage. It's been a work horse from when I first opened my company 7 years ago. This one has just been sitting around doing nothing, so I was wondering if anyone has the RTX 2080 cards and has any luck using them with RTR? Even if it's just for an intern to learn on... just squeeze a little bit more out of this for another year or so. Feedback is appreciated, but honestly I just want to know the opinions on the 2080 cards
  4. Thank you to everyone who reached out so far! I've received many inquiries and I'm taking time to go through each and respond to them as they have come in. Thank you for your patience and if you haven't heard from me yet just know I'm still working down my list.
  5. ADG Design LTD is looking to expand it's team with a full time positions available. A good understanding of construction methods, details and modeling accurately in Cheif Architect A good skill set in designing exteriors and/or interiors Flexibility moving through many different projects at the same time Remote workers to provide their own computer but ADG can provide the CA License and/or upgrade costs to keep your license current. Strong leadership skills would be a benefit as with this small company there are many opportunities for growth. Postion offers: Negotiable Salary health insurance (supplemental well) 401k Paid PTO (after 90 days) Direct Deposit Send resume / portfolio (with salary requirements) to aaron@adgtexas.com We will accept applications to be a sub-contractor for our company as well (with conditions that can be discussed upon submitting your application)
  6. To the Left is the road perimeter, clean as a whistle... to the right. Road Medians.... jagged and disconnected. What gives CA? Why can't we get consistency in these two?
  7. Did the latest update address this issue? I didn't see anything in the notes Currently running the RTX 3070 Laptop and was having frequent crashes when I updated at the beginning of February and had to revert back to 10 for stability.
  8. I did install the studio drivers and have had less issues with CAX13 crashing recently.
  9. Richard, It has to do with the fact that I use the same computer but because I set the Windows default to a second screen at 1080 and I make that my main screen is why I believe this is beyond CA Because even if I move the screen back to the 4k screen on my laptop it doesn't effect the text boxes when my second screen is the default main screen at 1080. It only affects the text boxes when the 4k screen in the set as the main screen. This tells me that Windows is more likely the culprit and not CA because if it was CA then moving from one monitor to the next with different resolutions would have the same effect on the text boxes if it was CA.
  10. I've found that going from one resolution to another always creates this problem. My home monitor and second screen in my office is 1080 but my laptop is 4K. Most of the other staff on my team had computers that were 1080. If I open the files they worked on in 1080 with my 4k laptop all of the text would do that. So after numerous attempts at trial and error to figure this out (since Support had no answer to this issue) I figured out that if I set my second screen (#2 in image) that has a 1080 resolution as the "main display" in the windows settings and use my laptop as the second screen it resolves the issue. So obviously it's not a Chief architect issue, it's a Windows resolution issue with text boxes.
  11. Anyone aware of Chief's preferred driver version from Nvidia? Gameready Drivers or Studio Drivers?
  12. All my drafting staff make anywhere in this range, depending on years of experience. Most started while in college and have worked their way up, very few have been with me longer than 3 years as my company is not that old, but I've retained them through the pandemic, they have flexibility and they are treated well. They enjoy their jobs and enjoy learning as we go. I also offer 2 weeks PTO to my full time staff.

  14. Brian, Thank you. The reset options panel worked. I didn't realize that was a thing. robdyck mentioned it but I didn't know it was in that panel. Thank you for clarifying it's location. All is right with the world now.
  15. Anyone else having an issue where the Wall Type Definitions box can not be adjusted in size? I can only adjust it vertically and not horizontally. Thought this could be a Beta thing but after updating it this AM it's still doing it.
  16. Are there any additional updates and features, bug list, etc?
  17. Thank you. We prefer to input the information ourselves since the export Res Check never worked that well in prior versions and also we have a better understanding of the wall systems we are recording. We just did an export to ResCheck and it seems to work better now. Still not clear on what walls are which but I guess we can suffer through that for now.
  18. see below, usually has all of this information displayed, thermal envelope, wall heights, etc
  19. We noticed this morning that nothing is calculating like it used to in the Materials List for the General Section once upgrading to X13. Anyone else know of an issue or having an issue with this? I've submitted a ticket. See attached for reference.
  20. So some older GTX cards are supposed to support real time raytracing with the latest drivers but X13 doesn't recognize this. Any chance we could see an update to support it? "GTX cards that will gain basic ray tracing effects and low ray counts include the Titan XP, Titan X, GTX 1080 Ti, GTX 1080, GTX 1070 Ti, GTX 1070, GTX 1060 6GB, GTX 1660 Ti (Turing), GTX 1660 (Turing)."
  21. If an builder couldn't build that based on that view then they shouldn't be building houses. That's why elevation views are important as well. However, we do fill the first floor planes as a solid similar to what was shown in an earlier post to differentiate what floor plate the roofs start on.
