I'm trying to drop the garage down 32" so the shed roof will not interfere with windows. When I do that it drags the second floor down with it. When I go back up & raise the second floor back to where it belongs it pulls the garage back up. What am I missing?!?!?!?!? Lot 13 111819.plan

Thanks Eric, I fixed the wall alignments, ceiling heights & roof splits below.

Yeah my bad, saved as a pdf instead of jpeg Barrington Lot 10.plan

I thought I knew how to eliminate the second story wall from protruding into the first floor but I think I have tried checking every box in the structures tab but I can't figure it out. Please help. Thanks, Two Story.pdf

I'm not completely happy with my current layout. I searched the forum to see if there were any layout templates I could download & I couldn't find any. Is there anybody to share what they have or websites that have them? Thanks, Mike

Great guys thanks for the help, I'll play around with it tomorrow.

I was not familiar with the half arch option that you referred to originally. I swear this is my last question! When you did your half arch into the wall there was nothing on the wall it abutted to. As you can see in mine, I do. I tried removing it with the wall edit handles where they join but no luck. Any suggestions?

I've tried in X9 & 10 & I can't get it to go either way that you explained. I see from your plan view, it looks like it stopped you. The green point in the middle of the arch needs to go over to meet the wall. You clearly accomplished it in your elevation view.
-
Yes exactly but as you can see, Chief stops me from pushing the pass through, past the wall it bumps into. Even when I try to override it with Ctrl. How'd you do Eric?
-
Thanks Eric & I like the way you did that with a pony wall. The picture wasn't clear or did I explain it well enough. The problem I have is that I'm trying to have 3 arched openings. The first one in the center is the easy one. The two on either side of it needs to be half openings. I want to have the apex of the arch to finish into the main part of the house. Essentially you only see half of the opening. Chief does not allow you to Ctrl click an opening into a wall.

I'm trying to draw a front entry that is curved & has 3 arched openings like the picture attached. Sorry for the poor picture. Is there a way to get chief to put a half opening in a wall? Or should this curved wall be drawn with a P-solid & holes cut out? Thanks in advance, Mike X-9 User Curved porch.pdf

Thanks so much Eric, I always rely on the align wall feature & I didn't question that it does it correctly. Thanks again!

I changed the rear walls under structure to hang on wall & that made the openings above appear again but Chief is drawing lines in elevations that would have to be edited. For some reason the basement walls are putting brick all the way up through the first floor covering up the first floor openings.
-
Eric, I did as you say & yes that fixed it until I changed the rear walls back to 2x6 brick walls. It is a walk-out basement. I've done this many times before & it's never done this.

At some point the windows & doors in my plan stopped showing in the rear elevation view. All other views are fine & I checked all of the settings on walls & windows throughout the plan & they are the same & showing properly. Anyone have an idea why?!?!? Thanks in advanced, Mike Patalsky B Model.plan

I've used PlanSoft too & love that function. It's tedious & annoying to have to manually create these details. I think we should start a petition to demand this feature to be added!!!!

Thanks Dennis, that's what I figured. It would be a nice addition to the wall specification to disable.
-
I've looked through every dialog box & I can't find a way to disable the baseboard on the stone walls. Only way I'm thinking it's possible is to remove it from the room & then make a room molding polyline & then remove from a specific wall. Is this the only way? Thanks, Mike

Thanks for the clarification Barton.

I just upgraded to X7 and I'm looking to streamline the process of keeping my libraries up to date on any computer that I use. I hate trying to find the file or texture that is missing because I don't have it on that specific computer. For what I read, I gather that all I need to do is to put the X7 Data folder in my OneDrive or Dropbox? The only thing that doesn't make sense is when I look at where the Core, Manufacture or Bonus folders are, they are in a different folder than the Data folder. Do I need to add those folders too? Thanks, Mike 2015-02-02_12-52-47.pdf

I try to open but it says it's from a newer version of Chief. I did an update check & it says I have the latest version? Any suggestion? I have version 16.4.1.20x64

Does anyone know a macro for the layout page to display, "1 of 4, 2 of 4, etc..."? Thanks, Mike

Setting up first floor with garage & basement
mpatalsky replied to mpatalsky's topic in General Q & A
Ahhhh, I didn't catch those two things. Unchecking the "floor supplied by the foundation room below" is what wouldn't allow me to manipulate the different fields without automatically changing others. Again, thank you!
