  1. As I understand, unlike other parts of the country here in the North East we often using 1x3 strapping, or furring attached to the underside of the ceiling joists (or floor joists) to which we attach the gypsum ceiling. Typically I specify my ceiling thickness as 1 1/4" to account for this; however I just noticed in X8 that my strapping is actually appearing in the framing! This is great accept that I can't figure out how it came up with its dimension, which is showing as 1 1/2"w x 3/4"thick. It should be 2 1/4" wide. I can live w/ that though. HOWEVER - obviously it needs to run perpendicular to the joists. When I first generated the framing it miraculously was perpendicular, but when I added a beam to the garage, it turned to run parallel. Any suggestions on how to correct? Plan attached. thanks, George X8 Herwig 6.3.plan
  2. Hi All, I've really taken a liking to the options with camera views, particularly the water color with the overlaid lines, very 'artsy' look. Question - is there a good way to do this in plan view when sending to layout? Any creative tricks up your sleeves??? thanks, Skip, X7
  3. Hi All, Does anyone have any suggestions on how to produce the box out window as shown in the attached pic. The overall model of the house is complete; I'm pretty proficient with roofs, etc. It's the box window that always gets me. Any suggestions? thanks. George, X6
  4. Hi All Why are my double-hung rough openings in the schedule 1/4" larger than they should be? An Anderson 400 series d/h has a RO height that is equal to the Unit Dimension. I therefore set my Rough Opening Bottom value to Zero. But in the schedule it seems to add 1/4". Any ideas? Thanks, Skip X6
  5. Hi, Common situation. Stairs leading to 2nd floor, partially open for the 1st 4-5 treads at the bottom. Railing on the open side terminates INTO the end of the wall at about the 4th or 5th tread. Therefore, the stair case is approximately 5" wider at the bottom. NOT starter treads. How does one do this? I've attached a quick CAD image in pdf for clarification. thanks.
  6. NEVERMIND! Found it! Sorry.
  7. Hi, I am unable to delete a starting tread. It seems when the stair is selected the 'starting tread' button disappears from the drop down menu? Any thoughts? Thanks, Skip X6

  9. Hi I have to believe this has been asked/answered before but I can't seem to find it. Feel free to direct me to a post if it's easier. Question - how to create a shelf in the foundation so that the floor framing sits on the shelf inside. I know there's a video from X1 about placing the framing entirely inside the foundation w/ the wall sitting directly on the foundation. I'm looking for a shelf solution. Thanks, Skip. X6
  10. Hi All, X6 How does one create a double hung window w/ dissimilar upper/lower sash sizes - so-called Cottage style? thanks. Skip.
