There appears to be a way to display just the sink without the cabinet. Stumble through the technique but it seems to work.
Correction from Eric below. Just choose the blank line style for the cabinets in the ref set.
Ain't you the clever one. Nice job Larry!

You can change the color line style etc of all ref layers.
You can not change direction of the arrow.

Only problem is that if you want to use that info in the Layout then you have to enter it into the Layout. The Project Info macros from the Plan don't work in the Layout.
I know, that is why I have them in cad details in the plan file and they are then sent to layout. I have a macro for all of my consultants in the plan and they are linked to a cad detail which has already been sent to layout because of the template I use..... easy peasy lemon squeazy.

Layout file is the key place to enter the Project Information. I'm not sure why it's available for entry in the Plan File but I suppose you could want to display that information specifically in various Plan Views. In that case it might in fact be different than the Layout. Why would anyone want to do that I haven't figured out.
Maybe I'm missing something that would be useful. Or maybe not.
I enter the client info in both the plan and layout. It depends on how one has their info setup.
In fact I think it makes more sense to have the info into the plan instead of the layout.
Both ways work.... options, options, options..... don't you love them.

Sorry buddy, but I think all the examples posted above look like poo. Not sure what method i would ultimately use since there are so many little variables from one job to the next, but I went a head and took a few minutes to mess with that first example plan posted. Here's a quick example using using 2 or 3 of the various tricks I posted above...
Yep, a cleaner look on the inside.

The secret is, do not put a hole in the ceiling, instead shape the ceiling plane around where the hole in the ceiling needs to be and then when the ceiling plane overlaps itself, the hole is created.
You can copy that dormer roof and roof hole and ceiling hole to make another dormer.......
.... but it won't work if you try to do the shaped hole again..... once the shaped ceiling plane method is used, you do not need to do it again.... weird.

Steve and I were talking about this yesterday. I actually was able to do it with 2 dormers on one roof. However I could not get it perfect on the other roof plane.
See picture for the imperfection.
Plan attached.

I use polyline solids drawn in either plan view or elevation and then it is best to convert those to symbols especially if you have decorative ends.

You cannot export but you can import which is what we want.
Nice feature by CA.

Hi Guys,
Can we export SAVED PLAN VIEWS?
It seems as if I did this recently and now I cannot find it.
Thanks

But a question @dshall...because you are a SAM guy, don't you have to go back and clean up all those saved plan view since you use the same plan file over and over?
Nope, I use them over and over and I even create more as I need them.

I would use a second floor to show the. clerestory windows. I would probably put the roof on level 2, I would probably put electrical on level 2 and use ref layer to show elec at first floor.
The. house is a two story.

It also appears as though the stair may not be in the correct position butting up to the deck. You can see the stair nosing but it is inside of the deck floor surface.
Also, the vector line for the top tread butting up to the deck is missing...another clue as to the top connection.

Foundation Plan Display Plumbing
in General Q & A
Posted
Nuts, this defeats the purpose of the "live" ref sets. If someone wants to dimension the fixtures, dimension on the floor plan with dimensions on their own layer and then turn that layer on in the ref set for viewing on the foundation plan. I use a similar method when dimensioning distance from first floor roof eaves to property lines when I am using the second level for the roof plan sent to layout setup.
I remember the CAD FROM VIEW trick from back in 2005, crazy stuff, that is what led up to truly usable ref sets that we did not have until X3.
